excuse unedited cell phone grammar and simple incomplete cell phone sentences

an ethnicity is worthless--not solely due to the ignorance of ethnocentrism--but because it hinders ones spiritual adherence to christ.

identifying by ethnicity is not only worthless, but is futile because morals cannot just apply to ones own people---it applies to all people

an ethnicity, ones ancestral roots, is worthless because it often leads to ethnocentrism as well as superior cultural attitudes

ethnocentrism is ignorant because humans tend to be fallible, regardless of ethnic roots

christ implores us to love all humans, regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity

jesus teaches this as the second most important teaching:

" And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Absolutely true of ethnicity and nationalism as well.

Ethnicity is our identity, not how we are defined...

To have a history and a culture is one thing, and it can be very interesting and worth sharing. To think that yours is somehowbetter than others rather than different from is where the problem comes. I love seeing expressions of differnt cultures.

I'd broaden it a bit:

As humans, we should find ethnic differences as irrelevant, other than for personal preferences and values.

Saying "worthless" is extreme. There are many persons and cultures around the world who are happy with their identification in ethnicity. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Here's some Scriptures that you may have also encountered, Acts 10:34,35 and Galatians 3:28. Acts 17:26. The message is so clear. God is not concerned about one's outward appearance.

That being said, God doesn't require us to take a negative view of our own ethnicity. Rather, it's when we make others feel inferior of theirs... that is the problem.

ethnocentrism is a bad and ignorant word that best describes the increase of ignorance that is prevalent in the modern world. it leads us to generalize, compare, and stereotype "inferior" cultures. sure, it is well that people learn cultural traditions to share with others. to contrast, it is also bad when people are developed to compare their cultures to others because it leads to a sort of ignorant competition that leads to racial comparison and eugenics. ethnicities are good to share, to pass recipes, to invite one to a party to share. to me, ethncetrism and racism is the epitome of ignorance.

this one thing is true: one cannot follow christ if they adhere to a racist or ethnocentric mentality

John 13:4-9 (KJV)
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
