This is not 'grasped'...Seek the Kingdom of Heaven first and all else will come. DO NOT WORRY. Give Him your burdens!! Cast your cares ...Be anxious for nothing.

This is a choice...a deliberate, conscious, intentional, steadfast decision to make it a complete focus;

Yep, that's one of my two main take-aways from the bible:

1. God is love.
2. Focus on love (and all that that is, which is higher, deeper, broader and wider than we've often been led to believe).

They go hand in hand, obviously. You can have the second without believing the first, but the first facilitates the second, in my experience.

Now if God IS love, created Love, It is His very essence...
you have a Christian that believes Jesus died for his sins and everything, but has no love in his heart
his whole life ....and then ya have a sweet person that is so kind and loving always for decades...
I'm thinking God is smiling on them from above and is pleased, tho, they never give much thought to Jesus.

Miss Hep, I don't worry too much about whether or not God is smiling on someone, because I figure love sees us for who we really are (from God's perspective) and who we are becoming (from our perspective). In other words, God is smiling on the Christian who isn't experiencing love just as much as the non-Christian who is, because God sees the end from the beginning. I also don't believe God is "above", but that's just nitpicking because I'm fairly certain that was just a figure of speech and not what you actually believe either.

You tend to see things better from above.

Thank you, that is a perspective. I also agree, God is all around me, but what an incredible vantage point from above!

As for that passage, Jesus is talking to the religious leaders, not all Jews. The first Christians were Jews.
Thanks so much for that link. Very helpful to read several passages before and after.

Bless the One who was, is, and is to come.

Then also reconcile this to thought with" in the begining, what is to come, and all that is.

Blessings Always.

Col 3:2 is one of my favorite insightful verses.
'Focus on the things above and not the things on the earth.'
Often people say in the earth, btw.
I wondered what Paul, personally, meant by above.

Oh, I do see all around threads mocking of God's murderous ways and how can you love
a monster like that....not understanding that's just what it says in the Bible...
doesn't mean He IS like that.
The only monsters that I know of are of mankind nature. There is no doubt in my mind that there are people today, possible few on this forum have enough evil in them to murder and tortue their fellow man if given the chance and motive. And if they were alive and younger in 1942 in parts of Europe, they would be goosestepping in line for their cause.

The evil of men God will not tolerate.
