And in the center of the street on this side and on that, upon the river, The Tree of Life which produces 12 fruits, and every month it gives its fruits and its leaves for the healing of the peoples. Rev 22. This is not some future fundy heaven, it is the kingdom of God within.

It is forgiveness that brings healing, the cursed tree represents an old system that bore not the fruit of freely forgiving. Having an appearance of godliness, but denying the power. Forgiveness is rooted in love and a power fruit born by the godly.

Oh but Channukah is where we find the answers too because he is the light in the darkness.

1 John 1

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

The fig tree story...not the explanation I was thinking of...but still...to me nothing is what it appears to
be in that darn Bible! Ha! Those parables are not so easy to get, imo.

The fig tree was a common symbol for Israel and may also have that meaning here, and the tree in the parable may refer to a Christian who has heard the gospel of Christ by faith unto salvation.
In either case, the parable reflects Jesus offering a chance for repentance and forgiveness of sin, showing his grace toward his believers. "These three years" logically refers to the period of Jesus' ministry, or simply that is the period it took for a fig tree to bear fruit.
The fig tree (gentile) was given the opportunity to be in the vineyard where it otherwise should not have been as well as the needed time to bear fruit.
The vinedresser, who is Jesus, does not fail and has offered to cultivate it and so it will produce fruit.

From another source:
Christ’s action was not a purposeless act of intemperance.
It represented a strong object-lesson that the disciples needed to learn....

There was a very good reason why Jesus Christ acted as he did on this occasion. It was not an impulsive act, it was not a misguided, irresponsible gesture. It was a deliberate, highly instructive warning. Unfortunately, the lesson conveyed has been lost upon the minds of many.

An exceptionally astute observation. Love is the foundation on which life should be viewed.

Pcamps is one of those rare people whose insights into the stories and parables of the bible are truly compelling.
