- Afflicting one's soul on the Day of Atonement means that one is to fast. (Isa 58:3, Ezra 8:21)
- Afflicting one's soul on the Day of Atonement means that one is to fast which is the abstaining from both food and drink. (Ex 34:28, Deut 9:18, Esther 4:16, Acts 9:8-9)
- No manner of work is to be done on the Day of Atonement. (Lev 23:30-32, Lev 16:29)
This Yom Kippur is not for Christians , as this is an Old Covenant which the Jewish faith may believe , Where this Holy Day of Atonement became dissolved through the blood of Jesus Christ Judgment for Christians , ..... See with Christians , Jesus said to be Baptized as this is were Christians are to come into Repentance , were they will receive the Spirit of God into their lives and then they will be a New Creation through the Blood of Jesus Christ , ..Still Christians must repent and continue to resist sin 24/7 /365 days a year , as the world is a dark place and Christians need to stay in the presence of the Lord with their temple of the Holy Spirit ....... I am not following Judaism.
What the Day of Atonement pictures is that at the very beginning of the Millennial rule of Jesus Christ, maybe even a literal nine days after He returns to this earth to set up the Kingdom of God, Satan is going to be put away -- bound with a chain, cast into the bottomless pit and shut up so he cannot deceive the nations for a thousand years. (see Revelation 20).
Revelation 20:
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled...
The world in general is cut off from the true God and true Christ. These Holy Days of God mean nothing to them. Satan has deceived them as Revelation 12:9 states. Only those who are true Christians and are called out of this present evil world who have God's Holy Spirit and are not under Satan's deception and authority can see what these annual Festivals/Memorials/Holy Days picture and why God commands them to be kept.

The Day of Atonement will begin at sunset on 9/25/2012 and end at sunset on 9/26/2012.
It is a 24 hour period of fasting and all work is forbidden.
Again, it pictures the putting away of Satan the Devil for a thousand years, which in itself will be a tremendous blessing during the 1,000 year reign of Jesus Christ on this earth.
Here are two lessons concerning the Day of Atonement:
After sunset begins the Day of Atonement and this day is also a 24 hour period of fasting (no food or water).
This is one of the annual Holy Days of God. The Holy Days picture God's Master Plan of Salvation for all mankind.
The Day of Atonement pictures the deposing of Satan from his position as world ruler, and his removal to a place completely away from mankind. Satan will be "bound" for 1,000 years, no longer able to deceive the nations or influence mankind to sin (Revelation 20:1-3)
Here are the scriptures in Leviticus 23 related to the Day of Atonement:
Lev 23:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Lev 23:28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
Lev 23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
Lev 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
Lev 23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Lev 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
I have been studying many prophecies lately. One of them is the 1335 days mentioned in Daniel.
Dan 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
Dan 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
The clue in that verse to me is the "BLESSED". This is speaking of Firstfruits.
Rev_20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
We know they talking of them resurrecting during the Feast of Tabernacles because Revelations shows they have Palms in their hands:
Rev_7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
That was done on Feast of Tabernacles:
Lev_23:40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
Therefore, I was able to quickly see that this is saying that the Day of the Feast of Tabernacles is going to be the 1335th day. Now if you count back 5 days to the 10th your actually at the Day of Atonement.
The Day of Atonement would then be the end of the 40 days of Great Tribulation which would start at the first day of the 6th month which is day 1290.
These day periods all lay down right evenly into these Feast Day periods.
So the Jewish holiday of Teshuvah is really a foreshadowing of Great Tribulation.

That is why Gentiles can't claim a Passover lamb, a ram of Pentecost, a Yom Kippur Goat or a Sukkot bull.
In the beginning they spoke of Passover lambs and Yom Kippur goats and Suklot bulls.Pagan Gentiles refused to continue in Paganism and they accepted the Passover lamb, they were zealous for the ram, the goat and the bull, now Christians teach against the laws and we know what Jesus said.
But you are right, it is obviously not for Gentiles, and so go and keep any Pagan Sabbath or holy day as long as it is not about the Messiah, what would Gentiles know of Passover lambs to even speak of a Messiah being their sacrifice? Just remember that the feasts and missions of Messiah ARE NOT FOR YOU OR ANY GENTILES..
As long as you stay separate from Jews, that is all I ask.
I have no debate, the ways of the lord were not meant for Gentiles as the covenant Messiah brought is only for the house of Ephraim and the house of Judah, but fear not, God still loves Gentiles, Only Gentiles should never boast about being under a covenant Messiah only brings for Ephraim and Judah. Ephraim and Judah are peculiar people, it isn't meant for Gentiles who want to remain Gentiles, there is the court for them.
We can clearly see who the people of Ephraim and Judah are in Jeremiah 31 and Ezekiel 37, and let's face it, you and Gentile Christians could not insert yourself into that realized covenant of Ezekiel 37 or Jeremiah 31 where the written covenant is listed and shown who the peculiar people are who fall under this covenant, and THERE AINT NO GENTILES. The people of the covenant know it is a ketubah, and they keep the covenant, Gentiles wont accept the covenant, and yet they claim to be a bride of a Jew.
In no stretch of the imagination can Gentiles quote the written covenant to show themselves in it. In no stretch of the imagination can Gentiles quote Ezekiel 37 showing the specific peculiar people being shown in that covenant who love the law, to then pretend they are the people of the covenant being shown, Christians are no longer under that covenant, they remain Gentiles.
Why are Gentiles inserting themselves into the specific covenant Messiah brought for Ephraim and Judah when they are CLEARLY NOT EPHRAIM OR JUDAH?
Quote Jeremiah 31 and Ezekiel 37 and explain the fact that Gentiles are not the people spoken of in reference to this written covenant......It's ok, there is a gentile cout made for you, but why do you pretend to be a people who love and follow the laws and ways of God?
