You know, I was just questioning the forum's TOS, I thought putting down any religion was not allowed.
Cuz I have plenty I could say about the service I went to at the JWs just recently...and some encounters at work with one...
but I can't here. Oh my.
On topic, I am so glad the fires are getting national attention.
Btw, it has been Five fires!

This person/s will be caught, tried, found guilty and sentenced.

The persons ideology will be moot. It will make for good press. It may even open discussions in a wider audience with regard to religious ideology.

I don't know why you can't describe your experience's with them. You can't put the religion down, but your experience is valid. It depends to a certain extent on the moderator.

Mensa guy, is she okay posting this?

Kind of like being persecuted for your faith like Jesus said would happen?

so since I have had family and friends literally "taken" by/because of evangelical churches, I am permitted to direct my hat specifically at the church and say the had it coming whenever something happens?

Sounds as if the OP has a bit more hate than we read in the words...

No one has this coming, except maybe Nazis...

And in reality, the WT did nothing, his family accepted the teachings as truth and went with it..

I get what you’re saying. That must have been devastating, and would leave one feeling helpless I would think. Anger and a desire for revenge at least makes a person feel like they have some power again and that can be an important part of the grieving process. Willamette, I’m sorry, and I hope you can quickly find healing that allows you to move beyond this stage to one that is more hopeful and at peace.

that is a good point, he also said Christians would be hated and despised by the secular world...I kind of doubt the 'secular authorities' would try to pursue those responsible for this, in fact, they are more likely to shelter and protect them! (the enemy of my enemy is a friend)

You mean an atheist, secular cop, for an example, being the 'authorities'?
That can't be what you meant.

I have various conflicting thoughts on this, some of which I am probably not allowed to say here. So I'll try to keep it vague and generic.

1. First and foremost, arson is a dangerous crime. This arsonist obviously does not have the legal right to act on his own, to take matters into his own hands, and burn down buildings.

2. But....there are other, more horrible things occurring in this world, some being done in the name of religion. This may or may not be relevant to this arsonist's situation.

3. Horrible things can drive people to behave in ways that would be considered unacceptable in most contexts.

4. Some things are so horrible that they must be stopped at all costs. Again, I'm not saying this applies in this situation, but I think most people would see truth in that statement.

5. There is a spectrum of horrible things in this world, and it is not always black and white to decide whether or how they must be stopped.

6. Please re-read number one before villifying me.
