There would be no salvation from the penalty of sin, there would be no forgiveness of sin if Jesus had not been sent by the Father into the world to go to the cross to die for our sins, in our place, as our substitute.

There was no penalty for sin, there was forgiveness for it.
For which is easier, to say, “Your sins are forgiven you”, or to say, “Arise and walk?”. Shortly after Jesus said that...... he said this....But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
You not God desired blood and he (God) was obliging, unfortunately it did not break the ignorance that it was necessary.
Jesus wanted fellowship with His creation enough to die on a cross and shed real blood so He could offer all of us salvation by faith and grace ALONE as a free gift through His death, burial and resurrection.......no hidden gimmicks no traps. For those who believe it's the greatest message of all....God extending His hand to us.........
EPH 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; cit is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Not cheap believism but real faith and NO license to sin, but a chance to make a difference in the lives of everyone you meet......tell them be reconciled to God who loves you, act like the Ambassador of Christ you are........seated in the heavenlies and looking up waiting for His return......
a merry, happy, and holy Christmas to you and everyone else. may the Christ Child who could find "no room at the inn" find room in our hearts for Him and the peace, love, mercy, and grace He brings and may we then SHARE what He has given us to others---loving as we have been loved and forgiving as we have been forgiven. in the peace of Christ, our Lord and Savior. .
And what exactly is the word we are required to abide in?
Well, it certainly would not be the leaven of the Pharisee of Pharisees, the false prophet Paul, or of Paul's cohorts. One is to eat the bread of life without leaven/hypocrisy.

You forgot about the part where Yeshua told the guy, sin no more, less something worse happens to you". (John 5:14)

You fundamemtalists are always looking in the scriptures for the worst. Did you happen to read about how many folk he healed and he never said such a thing to them?. Then you wonder why Jesus never held back in scolding those of that mind?.
