OMG.... Oprah wants peace. Heaven help us. Peace might mean we practice the tenants of Christianity. Some people need to think and understand their beliefs. Before you critizze the good another does perhaps you need to evaluate what good you have brought to the world.
We all want peace. We as humans cannot achieve it, period. For six thousand years, we have not been able to nail it down. Christ is Peace. He will bring it with Him when He returns. We are arrogant to think we can concoct a peace process that will reverberate around the world.

So until such time as Jesus decides to rejoin the mortal plain, we should do what? Continue bickering about who is a real Christian? Who is going up in the rapture? Continue fighting wars, encouraging ignorance and hatred, and above all count oneself not guilty because Jesus isn't here yet?
As I said before, Oprah may count herself more important then she really is, but evil cult mongerer? No, I don't think so.

In answer to your question, here's what we are to do until Jesus' return:
Jude 15:17-23 [A call to persevere]
"But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "in the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts (what Oprah and others are doing) and do not follow the Spirit. But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear---hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh."
2 Timothy 2:24-26 "The Lord's servants must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to teach effectively and be patient with difficult people. They should gently teach those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts and they will believe the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devils trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants".
“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.” I John 2:22
“There be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.” Galatians 1:7
“If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:9)
Satan and his demons show themselves as “angels of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14)
Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Good post!
I have sure fallen short in this one in the past. Sometimes our zeal in the Truth can cause us to falter in what God would have us to do. But the wisdom comes from learning and allowing the Holy Spirit to bring forth change (repentance) in the heart of the disposition that God is not pleased with.
Proverbs 15:1-2
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
Under what stretch of the imagination do you think that this does not apply to individuals?
It could apply to individuals, but I'm just saying it doesn't say what evangelical Christianity tries to make it say. It is a works based passage which says nothing about receiving Jesus as Lord and savior or repenting of sin or being born again. Reading the bible without evangelical glasses on is an eye opener.
DOTL gave you a good answer, I think. Jesus said He is the ONLY way to the Father. Some may say this is too narrow, but it is wide enough for the whole world, if the world chooses to accept it.
What does that mean to you?
What is it that makes Him the only way?
godspeed,
freedom
