Default After or "after" or both?

I know confusing name for a thread huh? Ive always thought alot about these words and how they pertain to King David.
Three of the definitions for after are:
1.In quest or pursuit of.
2.Following continually: year after year.
3.According to the nature or desires of; in conformity to

"I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after
My own heart, who
will do all My will." - Ac 13:22 (cf. 1 Sam 13:13-14)

I just kinda wondered what others here thought about how David was after Gods own heart. At times David was completly "out there".
1 Samuel 21:12-13 NIV) [12] David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath. [13] So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard.

And of course theres the whole bathsheeba incident and many, many others..
So what makes David after Gods own heart? and was he after it (Gods heart) as in a sense of longing for it, chasing it, was he like God in his thinking? Was he both?

There is a scripture that says.
Acts 13:22 NIV) After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.

What do you think?

That's interesting, arguy.. I've never thought of it in that way before! I've often wondered what exactly this meant... it seems like David had something that many people under the "old law" did not have. The old law was weak in a sense, because it didn't necessarily require "love"..(just obedience) although love would have been the ideal way. David loved God.

I agree. Maybe the Psalms will give insight into David's heart. He seemed to have a longing, hunger , love for God even when he messed up. Good topic. God bless.

Yes and God was always there for him no matter what the circumstances. And He is there for us the same way, no matter what!
