I was inspired to attempt starting a poll
Do you feel that the Christianity forum is now a hospital or a prison
Hospital for the wounded and broken hearted as WC suggested in a thread
this morning
Or do you think it's a prison
Please tell us why, and what do you feel we as believers could do to make it
the best hospital in the world
I'd appreciate
Serious replies only please,
this should not be the opportunity to bash or insult
Please exercise self-control while replying,
Thanks in advance

Actually, I don't see it as either one..I think the mods have done a good job of keeping the christianity sub forum what it was intended for..A place for christians and other interested posters to discuss christian topics..That is all topics relating to Christ and particularly the Christian faith..I don't think the intent was ever meant a place to come to mend a broken heart or heal the wounded, although I imagine that has been done..And I know that many of us would rather do our "mending" through dm's, because that makes it more personal not to mention private..One on one is much better than confusion of the crowd..I see this christianity forum more like a school, because there have been some really good lessons presented here that were for anyone to learn or reject. As far as is it more like a prison? I really don't understand what is meant by that..A prison has locked doors and cells and the inmates are there because of some law they broke. I neither see nor feel that the christianity forum has locked doors and we are free to come and go

It does seem that we tend to rehash the same subjects - over and over... some beating others over the head with what they believe to be true - over and over... until some become angry and lash out. Some regularly visit our forum just to stir the pot and to enjoy the outcome. Many christians have gone from here because of all of the bickering....

To be a follower of Jesus is to be different from the the lawyers and the Pharisees - who argued the merits of the law and didn't care who was offended because they were sure they were right.

Legalism is like being in prison...

Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly!

Seems more like a junior high cafeteria. Lots of argument, but no one seems to change their mind about anything.

Thanks for your reply Blue;
what I meant by a prison,
was more or less symbolic of feeling bound, bondage, not free to express
without being pounced upon, very generic
good post

Thanks for you honesty;
Hopefully we as believers would be able to gain some insight from replies
such as yours and the others, and make the necessary changes in our approach
if nothing else learn from our mistakes, here and grow from them;
God Bless

I see it for what it is, a discussion forum. Or, to use an analogy, a talk show.

I don't think it can be a hospital because there's such a variety of "medicine" being tossed around. A cancer unit specializes in cancer and has doctors who are trained and experienced in treating cancer. A cancer unit doesn't have voodoo witch doctors, chiropractors, or mechanics running around treating patients.

Neither do I think it's a prison because people do have the freedom to come and go; to accept or reject what's being said. It could be seen as a prison in the way that some, when they're disagreed with, get angry and start attacking and name-calling and hurling insults. (Or is that kindergarten? )

I say it is 'other', because it is a discussion forum. As others have said, anyone is free to come and go. I think each poster should be free to post what they feel is right, without being harassed for what they say. Some of us take the scriptures very seriously, and should be free to post them as we see fit.
