I'm struggling right now and hope that someone can give me some strength and some insight. I have had a lot of major losses in my life and yesterday we lost our beautiful four year old pet. It was from an illness and I'm struggling with why God will take beautiful little souls and leave the not so beautiful souls here. During this brief illness, I was told things like, "Just get rid of it and go out and get a new one." As a pet parent, I nearly burst into tears hearing comments like that.

Yesterday was also the anniversary of losing one of my family members.

I'm well aware of JOB and his struggles and the fact that after Eden, earth was no longer meant to be a Paradise, but enough is enough already.

Not even knowing what the day held for me, I had taken a vacation day. After the horrible incident and hours of crying, I browsed the internet. This is one of the stories that I found~

'He died because he was poor' - St. Petersburg Times

I just keep wondering where was everyone? Where are all the people who consider themselves to be Christian or Spiritual? If I would've personally known him, would I have even offered enough help to make a difference?

I've heard comments from people in the past saying things like, "What do we want with all those worthless bums lying on our doorstep?" When did human beings start being worthless? Where was all the help from the group that gives free food to people in exchange for a bit of community service?

This is horrible, but not isolated. In my own state a 22 year old Mother has just been accused of murdering her baby. Not long ago a young man murdered his Grandmother.

So are we really improving and becoming more enlightened and closer to God or are we the same savage souls that wandered the earth years ago? Do we just say we're getting better and patting ourselves on the back so we can feel good or is it REAL?

Somebody, PLEASE have some answers for me so I can get back on track.

Sorry for your loss,

Sounds like you had put a lot of emotional energy into your friend and received it as well.

I've never been real close to an animal or pet so i can only relate it to one of my loved ones, and it must be painful.

Death seems to be most unnatural when it touches us, i hope your mourning is short.

godspeed,

freedom

There's really nothing I could say that wouldn't be something that you haven't already heard or without sounding like a cliche'.

What I can do is tell you that I feel your pain. I LOVE my animals, and it is absolutely devastating to lose one. I'm so sorry for your loss.

There are no good answers for why these things happen. Saying it's God's will or God's plan just doesn't make it better. But the fact is.......it is all part of God's plan. Losing loved ones, pets, houses, cars, jobs, dignity and even faith sometimes is just all part of it. There is a greater purpose, and I believe that wholeheartedly.

Right now you need to focus on crying and grieving. It's okay, and it's actually necessary. There's a grieving process, and you're at the beginning. Continue to pray and ask God to give you strength and lift you up. He will get you through this.

And just so you know, I'm in a place right now where I could have posted something very similar to what you did. I'm feeling really dumped on and fed up and hearing that children in Africa are starving does not help. It's horrible and we feel for them, but does that make our problems any less real? No, it does not. We all have problems. Different kinds to different degrees, but we all have them.

So, grieve, sweetheart. And let God cradle you in His loving arms until all is revealed. One thing that I think might help you.....I know for a fact that there will be animals in heaven. God bless.

I, too, am sorry for the sadness that you are feeling over your beloved pet. Four years seems like such a brief time, but would you have given it up so that you would not feel this pain now? No, I am sure that you would not have. Try hard to remember the good times, the love and friendship that you received. I am sure that there are many times that you can reflect on that will fill your heart with gladness.

The rest of your post made me think of some things that I have gone through in the past several months. All the what ifs... I agree with you completely. If you listen to the news, or world seems to being going to hell in a handbasket and noone seems to notice. About a month before my kids got out of school I was asking my husband, "what is it that is keeping God from destroying our world? Certainly it could not have been worse when he destroyed it with a flood." Everything seemed to be piling up on me at that time. There was one day when I was sure that I was going to pull my kids out of public school and build a compound around my house. But then logic set in and I spent some time talking with a dear soul whom I put a lot of trust in. I asked her, "what can I do?" She explained to me that I was looking at things globally. That I was too small of a person to make a change globally (at least and still take care of my own family). She said, look around you...what can you do to make a difference right here? If you can help one child...change one life...you don't know how far that will carry... I took her words to heart and searched my own soul. I am working on my family and I am focusing on my children's school and our community. Hopefully I can make a difference there. Who knows, maybe one day it will trickle beyond our community. Maybe one day something that I have done will change things globally.

Look around your community, Jammie. What can you do to help with the problems that you see?

That is such a sad story. No matter what we do, God said, "The poor you will always have with you." We do what we can and we pray. Losing a pet is devastating. The grief too will pass in time.

Oh Jammie, my heart aches for your loss!!!!! My cat died five years ago and I still miss him. Don't let anyone tell you it's just a animal, they are not, they are our family!!!! You cry when you feel like it, you feel sad, this will get better over time, but you need time to grieve for you loss. I did get another cat, but no other cat will take the first one's place in my heart.

The same place they were when I was battling with chronic illness, and loneliness, and a broken family life, and homeless;
No where to be found; (but I didn't let it make me bitter)
We are living in a time that people (in the local churches) for the most part are very selfish and me-centered;
read Iand II Timothy about the perilous times, and he's not talking about the
world , instead the churchfolks;
"many are called, but few are chosen"
I did a thread sometime ago about the wheat and the tares,
I would add more, but I am on the library computer and my time will be up in 5 mins
Hey everyone at CD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Miss You ALL!!!!
LOVE YA< GOD BLESS ( will be back on soon)

Jammie I wanted to share some poems for you, I hope they make you feel better

In the hearts of wise men
there is no grief for the luck of those who live
or for those who have died.
Neither you, nor I or any other being
has ever ceased from being or will cease to be
forever and ever.

All what lives, lives eternally
Just like the human body
experiences childhood, youth and old age
the soul as well takes posession and then abandons
different physical abodes one after another
wise men know this truth and they do not fear death.

***

The soul, know it, it is indestructible
and it expands everywhere
I can't be ever stopped
shrunk or changed in any way.
only these temporary shapes
where the inmutable spirit dwells, are transitory...

Those who ignore truth could affirm:

I've killed! or think I've died!
but the soul can not kill
the soul can not die
spirit has no birth
and can never die:

It has always existed.

Beginning and end are just dreams!

***

The spirit remains always inmutable
without birth or death.
Even if it's temporary abode perishes,
spirit is invulnerable to death.
I tell you that weapons can not attack the soul;
neither flames can burn it
or the waters drown it, or the winds dry it.
Inaccesible, unconquerable, invulnerable, untouchable;
inmortal, stable, almighty, secure, invisible and unexplainable;
beyond thoughts and word, the whole in itself: such is the soul
Why, then knowing this should you cry? when there is no cause for it
Should you suffer if you know that, the one who died is the same to the one who was just born?
ever living, and it is no other but the same spirit always existent.

***

Just like men discard their old clothes
and when they get new clothing they decide:
"I will use these today"
Just like that, the soul, silently discards his clothings of flesh,
and then inherits a new one.

Just beyond the corner of my eye
He stands - silent, watching;
But in my mind's ear, I can still hear
The tinkling of his tags.

Pets just pull on our heartstrings. They seem to love unconditionally and that adds so much to our lives.
Somehow I think most of us forget all the blessings in this life. When something goes wrong we wonder what God was thinking. But there are so many things going right and that God is showing himself through that we don't acknowledge. We live in a fallen world where Satan roams around for now. I think when we get to Heaven maybe some of this will make sense, who knows. It's a matter of trying to trust God through the hard times and asking him to help us endure the difficult times and be appreciative and thankful for the good times.
