Well, I was having a debate with two of my closest friends, John and Stephanie at Starbucks. I asked my friends about why there are some many people that are against abortions. John told me that is a sin and states its like murdering a person, as did Stephanie.

What if the mother was raped and her life was endangered? Would it still be a sin if she engaged in getting an abortion?

Thanks in advanced.

What if the mother is raped and then goes out and murders? Is it still a sin because she had an injustice done to her?

BTW for anyone who doesn't catch it those are rhetorical questions

If her life is in danger, then I believe that it is not a sin. But if she was raped, that doesn't justify her taking it out on the baby, it is not the baby's fault. If she is raped and gets pregnant she needs to have the baby and give it up if she doesn't want it.

an unborn child is 'innocent life'.if a mothers life is in danger someones innocent life must end to prevent 2 peoples innocent lives ending.when a woman makes a 'choice' to have sex she knows what the result could be and an abortion in that case would be wrong.a 'rape' wouldnt cause the child to be any less 'innocent' though i suppose i would reluctantly leave the final decision to the woman in that case.none of this changes the fact that only a very small % of abortions are done to save the mother or involve rape, but rather are done as a means of 'after the fact birth control'.

The mother would have to square that with whatever she believed. Thus the reason why I'm pro choice.

What has never made sense to me is that if you cause an auto accident and if the women is preg and the baby and she dies..you are changed with two deaths. And yet many states you can still get an abortion. Why does that baby not count as a person then???? It was always seemed like a conflict in the law.
I help with the Preg. Care Center in my town. When they do fund raising I love to hear the speakers. One of the gals, a four point student and pre-med student, was an amazing speaker. I was so drawn to her and her spark for life. At the very end of her talk she stated she was the result of a rape and her mom decided that she was not to blame. You could have heard a pin drop.........

One of the other things I have learned from this Preg. Care Center is that stats show that young women who have abortions have deep regrets as they get older and have children starting out their families. All of a sudden the reality of what that life really was comes back to haunt them. It must be very sad and hurtful for them to feel that way. I like it that the center supports them, counsels them, gives them things they need and tries to give them solutions to a really difficult times in their lives. They really love and care for them. They still have a choice what to do but at least they have options and know someone will help and support them.
