We see many conflicting viewpoints on this board. You name it, there is an opposing view. I think that most of us would agree there is only one interpretation that is true. Most of us would also probably agree that some small issues or differences of opinion don't matter.. however, there are some doctrinal interpretations that make a great difference in a Christian's walk, and are deceptively false.
So my question is.. what are we using, or how are we going about following the way of Truth, and avoiding the snares of deception?
A simple answer you might have is "following the Holy Spirit" or "reading the Bible".. that is true, but how does the Spirit speak to you? What are the signs of Truth?
I'd like to hear where you are coming from.. please describe in detail, if possible, your journey and your insights in how to follow the way of Truth.
Very good point, freedom! There is no way that something of self or of the devil can truly glorify God.
Care to expand? What are the signs of it glorifying God?
Taking the time to pray for those suffering under trial, giving without concern of receiving anything back, not being afraid to stand up for the beaten, broken, and defeated, giving thanks for all your blessings, being strong enough to spread the word despite opposition, loving without conditions, and simply wanting to walk with Jesus. These are a few things, but each one requires you to humble yourself, to not be afraid to stand up for what is God's, and to remember that you are a servant of Christ, Christ isn't a servant of you.

Some of the signs.
Life,Joy, Peace, Love, Humility, Selflessness, Holiness, Power (move mountains, raise the dead, feed the hungry, heal the sick). Basically everything opposite of Satan.
Jesus came that we might have life, and more abundantly. We've yet to understand that promise in its entirety, and how awesome a promise it is, but soon we will see the fulness of its meaning, there are those that are awakening to the great things that God has prepared for those that Love Him.
God's Kingdom is one of expansion, His ways are perfect and in order to honor Him, we keep His ways, and that glorifies Him. To say we cannot keep His word does not glorify His ability to create Sons and Daughters that are capable of instruction and correction.
We are called to Hunger and Thirst after His righteousness, then All else shall be added.

The guidance of the holy spirit is to feel the fire of the desire for God burning in our hearts, consuming all our sins, lack of inner peace, lack of wisdom, egoism, pride, slothfulness, anger, fear and all those things that keep us away from the divine.
The guidance of the holy spirit is felt as an extreme longing for God, and an extreme sorrow for our lack of unity with him.
Thou are the food that nourishes me and brings light into the darkness of our noctural separation!
Many people shed tears when they loose a loved one, a relationship ends, or something dear to them is lost, but how many people shed tears for God? when this happens is because our soul heard the call the holy spirit telling us, return home son
If Christ is in the heart, He becomes first and can not deny Himself. Our nature becomes His nature.
In my understanding and how to explain the insight of the Truth in my journey is that, Christs life is now the first nature within me and my nature becomes second or as the scripture says it becomes dead. One doesn't think or act in the second nature but in the first nature.
An Example:
If my brother comes to me hungry I will without even thinking about it but feed him even if it is the last morsel of bread that I have. My thoughts will go to that I know that God will provide for both there is no fear of hunger!
My second (old) nature if my brother came to me hungry and I only had one last morsel of bread to eat. I would think that I could not let him know I had that last piece left so that I could feed myself in fear that I was going to be hungry....
So one that is walking in Christ who is the Truth they don't recognize what they have done or doing, but see and feel the heart of Him and act upon that.....This is what brings God the Glory!!! Allowing Christ nature to be our nature.

I like that curly, He becomes our first nature...so true, and so possible.

Well for me...I have the confidence in knowing that no matter what, God is in control, he has called me out to believe in him and he sustains me and my faith.
So having said that, if I wander off - he always brings me back. If it's something detrimental, God will guard and protect his children through other people, circumstance and yes - the Spirit of Truth.
I am speaking regarding doctrinal things.
I don't believe really that most doctrinal differences are "life and death" to those born again.
Lord knows in 19 years I've wandered through the muck and mire - he's never let me down no matter how far I've strayed!
I do believe that the noise of life and distractions of the enemy can and do impact our life and purpose...but even then, God is in ultimate control "and we know that all things work together"...

Hi JViello,
I hope not to be clumsy in this post. When some hear what you have written, they can take it as God will make them do this or that, by saying He is in ultimate control, we are created with choice and there are definite laws that govern the good and bad that comes from our choices.
THe admonition to Ask, Seek and knock are very important when it comes to learning the things of God.
I don't mean this to sound like a lecture, it is just easier for me to relate my thoughts by being direct.
All things do work together for good "to those that love Him".
If we say we love Him; We keep His commandments. We have a role in this life, and if we are held accountable to the things we set our eyes upon, whether they are of the Spirit or the flesh.
godspeed,
freedom
