Life is difficult and God never says he'll give you prosperity. He only promises that he will give us what we need and that we will find relief in heaven from the troubles we face on earth.
God says that if we seek Him diligently we shall find Him, and that we can receive of His Fulness.

Is there any greater promise than to be like our Heavenly Father, that His glory may abound?

godspeed,

You should be able to feel good about being a christian and rejoice in knowing Christ and the promise he has made to us. However, Osteen too frequently preaches about having worldly possessions and being "blessed" by God. These blessings he talks about are not spiritual things like wisdom, mercy, compassion etc.

Your bigotry is showing.

I thought his answer was non offensive to our LDS brothers and sisters, and who are any of us to judge anothers faith in Christ?

Sure you want to sit in that seat?

I have found those in the LDS faith to live thier belief far more than any other self professed Christian denomination.

godspeed,

freedom

IMHO - If you sincerely feel that Mr. Osteen or any pastor is in error, ....
the christian response should be to pray for them in private -- understanding the gravity of their position --
not to bash them on a public forum.

It sounds to me like a lot of you have been affected our cultures new age like attitude. Fact is, other religions are wrong! Now, I do not go to friends of other faiths and say "hey you're wrong and need to straighten up." Thats obviously not going to get anyone anywhere. This is a christian forum and I assumed I was speaking to others who believed.

Jesus said that He is the only way to heaven and that the story told in the Bible is the ONLY truth. The faith that mormons have is NOT biblical faith in Jesus. If you desire to be a true christian you will need to come to terms with the fact that other faiths are wrong. How did Jesus feel about false idols? I believe that he broke them! Jesus didnt have a wishy washy whats right for you is fine kind of attitude.

People need to know that the gospel Mr. Osteen is preaching is a watered down version having little to do with what the Bible actually says.

Believed what? there are over 30,000 professed Christian denominations with an array of differing doctrines.
Are you the Christian police?
Are you willing to suggest i don't believe? Oh you already did....

You know very little about the LDS church, and it shows.

Default Jesus said, "For he that is not against us is on our part..."

If you sincerely believe that Mr. Osteen or any pastor is in error, the christian response would be to pray for them in private -- understanding the importance of their influence -- NOT to bash them on a public forum.

"And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part.
For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea...."

I have no idea what you believe and I never presumed that I did. I will certainly stand by my statement that a mormon is not a christian. Its a completely separate religion based on documents much newer than anything Biblical and not considered by christians to have been inspired by God.

And no I am not the "christian police." I couldnt name all of those 30,000 denominations or tell you anything about many of them. But we were speaking about mormonism, which I do have knowledge of. A lot of those denominations have very small differences making very little difference in whether or not someone is a christian. For instance, it really doesnt matter if you believe a person should be immersed when they get baptized or only sprinkled.
