Well, anything is possible, but somehow I don't see the Roman soldiers being willing to be interrupted in their busy work of crucifixion, and allowing the thief to be taken off the cross, dunked in a river, and put back on the cross. Or, perhaps they stopped the execution long enough for someone to throw some water on the guy? Otherwise, since we are not given any indication, (either by scripture, or by common sense), of a baptism, it would be safe to assume that our thief hit the pearly gates relatively dry.

Jesus walked through Jerusalem for three years or more before the cross. He could have been baptized before he was tried and prosecuted to the cross.

Oh no - not another 'baptized in water' thread .
Baptism is symbolic and has nothing to do with being dunked or sprinkled or saying the right magic phrase.
I would advise us all to be baptized into the person of God. It's hell on the flesh (ego) but pure heaven for the spirit man.

Good answer but you forgot a word, truely. Anyone can say they repent and received Christ. I think that's where a lot of non-believers fail in their understanding of Christianity. You cannot know my heart nor I yours. That's God's job because you and I would fail miserably at it.

Yes, more than we could ask or even think. There's things He has given us that we take for granted certainly (the next breath, or beat of your heart) but if we quiet ourselves and ponder the greatness of His gift to us - when I consider that the God of the universe would let us call Him a fraud, to spit and slander Him, and dare Him to come down from the cross if He were really able to, then display the love, patience, and power to finish - that is enough to start the list.

Well, as I said, anything is possible, but I also seem to recall that both thieves laughed at him, at the outset, according to at least one of the accounts. Doesn't it seem like the man Jesus spoke to, (had he been baptized prior to his trial and execution), wouldn't have mocked him? Seems like an odd thing to do, if he had already heard Jesus' preaching and teaching, and accepted it, enough to get baptized. Of course, in my former Southern Baptist vernacular, he could have been "backslidden", in which case, being in the position he was in during the crucifixion, (no pun intended), I guess that's as good a place as any to get your priorities straight, once again. Either way, I still don't believe that baptism is necessary to enter heaven, and it certainly isn't talked about as a sacrament in the scriptures.
