I figure some of them will try to heal your homosexuality with prayer in hopes of converting you.

Discuss amongst yourselves....
Um, how would I know that he or she is gay? Looks just like any other person. I'm pretty sure most don't wear sandwich boards proclaiming their sexual orientation.

Depends on the church. UCC, Methodist, Episcopal, MCC tend to be very accepting. Catholics and Orthodox won't stone you for it, but they think you're going to Hell for it. Most other churches will proclaim that they love you and say you're are sick and need healing and that you are evil. Even though they've never walked in your shoes and it flies in the face of science they will think they can change you.

If you are looking for a church I would suggest looking at MCC and UCC. Unitarian and Episcopal as well.

I would say, "Hello, welcome. We hope you find a home here." Why?

I would welcome them with open arms. As I've said MANY times before, I have a good friend that's Lesbian and was a UMC Minister. Her congregation accepted her with open arms (as did I. I met her when she was the Associate Pastor at the church I went to in college). There's no reason not to accept them and welcome them. I wouldn't even condemn their lifestyle. As for accepting churches...probably the best one is the Metropolitan Community Churches (www.mccchurch.org).

Excellent point. The real question is what is the motivation for a homosexual stepping into church... is it to find what their itching ears what to hear 2 Timothy 4:3 and be affirmed of their sinful choice of life style, or is it to find a church that preaches comfort for the afflicted who want to amend their sinful way?

Jesus called sinners to repent. That repentance lead to a change..be it compassion for others,
1 Peter 3:8
[ Suffering for Doing Good ] Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble

or be it a change of life style....
Colossians 3:6-7
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.

That is why some of verses in the Bible speak about the "battle" or "the war within". Part of the fruit of faith is battling "the evil I want to do". Therefore a church which calls something good that Gods calls evil does nothing but inslave the sinner.

Jesus' message was not popular in his day nor today. Why is that .... it requires a change.

Uh, no..that wasn't the real question. The OP asked a question and that was his question. He simply asked what each person reading his post would do if a gay person were to come into their church. He didn't ask for your opinion on homosexuality and biblical interpretation.

Your post is off topic and uncalled for. But then again, most of them are

I disagreee.

From a Christian perspective ( and this is the Christianity forum) a person's motivation just might have a bearing on how a church responds.

An sinner(any sin) who enters a church seeking repentance and to turn from their sinful ways SHOULD be treated different than a sinner looking for a place to tell them their sin isn't sin.

The post you call off-topic is actually spot-on.
