From a Christian perspective ( and this is the Christianity forum) a person's motivation just might have a bearing on how a church responds.

An sinner(any sin) who enters a church seeking repentance and to turn from their sinful ways SHOULD be treated different than a sinner looking for a place to tell them their sin isn't sin.

The post you call off-topic is actually spot-on.
I see, that does make sense. It's to point out if the church beleives homosexuality is wrong or if it believes it to not be will depend on the reaction of the church. I couldn't see around the "preachy-ness" of the post to look at it that way. I concede

One of my close friends is gay. My husband is not very open to it but we are soul mates and he's one of the funniest people I know. He' about a 6'6 black, ex-Marine gay man. I'm a 5'2" wasp women We on the outside couldn't be more different but we are great friends.
I met him while supervising at an inter-city mission. He is now in prison for having sex with someone who was just under 18 Bad choice but in PA you get 7-27 years!!! He has been in for about three years and I am his support system. He knows that was wrong and is working hard to grow in his faith.
We both know that there is a reason that God has us as friends. I have learned a great deal from him and I know he feels the same way. God made all our souls and puts unlikely people in each of our lives as a blessing.
Our church would welcome anyone seeking God

At our Presbyterian church gay people are welcome, and accepted as they are, not considered sinners. I'd never step one foot into a church that preached otherwise.

I have yet to go to a church that did not allow nor accept homosexuals and I have lived in 3 countries.

We are all sinners, sounds like your church is perfect.

Discuss amongst yourselves....
Does this hypothetical homosexual have a sign that say's I am a homosexual, I am relatively certain that my Church and every other church is full of sinners, myself included, so I guess the question would be, is he a repentent homosexual or ?......................

I would welcome him or her just as Jesus would. It is not my place to judge, but it is my place to love someone for who they are.
