So you would rather have a few extra bucks and kill a whole bunch of children, in which I do not see any extra money with a democrat? No I live in a house we work for!!! And I have always worked for and all I see is a deficit that topped twelve trillion? TAX AND SPEND TAX AND SPEND.
Yeah, good point. The only jobs Democrats might deliver are paid for with taxes/debt, which always ends up chasing private sector jobs away. Democrats are Free Traders and that = less good jobs for Americans. It was their President, FDR, who humiliated Republicans for being Protectionist, by successfully blaming The Great Depression on them! So, we're all Free Traders now!
This is an old thread but the op title is: Why do Christians like McCain instead of Obama?
Thinking back to when it was more relevant, I don't think that anyone really knew Obama much, but a lot of people, including probably a lot of Christians, voted for him because they were not satisfied with what was happening in Washington and were looking for change, which is what Obama capitalized on. (We didn't know at the time that his idea of change and "fundamental transformation of America" was to redistribute wealth, grow government, and move our capitalist country towards already failed European style socialism.)
But McCain, as I recall, was not at all the candidate serious Christian conservatives would have chosen, he was just suddenly thrust upon them almost overnight. The candidate of choice, in my opinion, for most conservative Christians would have been either Huckabee or Romney. But unfortunately those two split the "Christian" vote allowing McCain to slip in, with the consequent results. (Also in play of course was the normal swing of independents disgusted with Washington politics switching from the ruling party to the underdog. We'll see that happen again very soon I think because federal politicians are run amuck in my opinion and failing to listen to what the people want for their nation.)
So, I think it most likely that in general "Christians" liked McCain instead of Obama because they had no real choice in the matter (Huckabee and Romney were not in play) but for them he was the lesser of two 'evils'.

I hoped Huckabee had been nominated, but since he was not I voted for a 3rd party conservative/libertarian/christian. There was no way I was going to vote for McCain who was only an extension to disastrous Bush policies, and I did not vote for Obama because I didn't like what I was hearing.
Why did Christians like McCain? Well, many choose to vote for the 'lesser evil' when there isn't a candidate they really like, and churches in America painted Obama as the greater evil. Also, isn't a good Christian supposed to vote Republican? I think that is pure nonsense, and the way the Republicans have behaved this year I have decided to never pull for them again. They don't mind seeing America fail, so they can blame it on Dems, and that is a horrible attitude. It will be 3rd party all the way for me from now on.
No, you don't have to vote for a lesser evil. I voted for a Christian pastor called Chuch Baldwin, of the Constitution party, and he was not a lesser evil. People need to get rid of that lesser evil mentality and vote with their hearts. Otherwise we will be stuck with this two party system where both parties drive identical agenda with different flavor. Both parties are socialist, only the Republicans pretend that they are not, but they definetly are.

Palin made a point on the Beck show a couple of days ago when he asked her about a possible third party. She responded as I recall that we are "a two party nation." And went on to say that the republican plank is firmly built on conservative principles but that a whole lot of today's elected 'Republicans' have shifted so far towards progressivism that conservatives have no voice in Washington and most of today's red faces need to be fired.
Maybe work on getting a whole lot of new faces (genuine conservatives) to run Republican instead of a tea party that would split the conservative "Christian" vote??

Politics isn't always a matter of good and evil. Sometimes it's a matter of for example 'to spend or not to spend.' And in America it should always be a matter of what do the majority of the people want, instead of the all too common today matter of which self-interest group has the loudest voice in Washington, or which way do the elitists who think they know what's best for the people want to take the country.
