not every single person has the same gift of "witnessing". not everyone has the ability to talk to complete strangers, but some do. some people have been "burned" by others and have made up their mind to have nothing to do with religion and then decide if that is what God is like then I want nothing to do with Him. if we walk up and expect someone to take what we are telling them the very minute we tell them, that is dumb. and just as Jesus is patient with us, we should be patient with others and not throw them away and move on to the next person just because they don't accept what we have to offer. if God is love and if God is living in us then we will love people and let His love shine through us. living a "religious" life isn't witnessing. loving others regardless of sex, religion, color, status, sexuality, age, size, beliefs, or health is. Jesus did.

Well let's see. I probably don't witness for the following reasons...

1. It's easier to just agree with people than to bring up thorny subjects like religion (I was raised that it's not polite to be thorny)
2. I couldn't get over feeling like a pushy salesman.
3. I was wrapped up in my own little world, so I really didn't care.

I'm not trying to excuse myself, but this is where I'm at. But as I get older (Ha! I'm just 27!) I've been thinking about how I want to look back on my life when I'm old, and I don't want to regret not telling people about Christ. Now I'm not a tract hander-outer, but I could do more to proclaim christ through deliberate good works and talking religion in a non threatening way. You just have to be creative about it. I think I just need to find my own evangelistic technique and run with it.

For instance, yesterday I remembered that Advent begins this sunday, and thought it would be a fun experiment to observe Advent and use it as a way to show good works to people and to use it as a springboard for telling people about why Christ is important to me.

God has given each his own strengths and talents--Gifts of the Spirit--to use for his purpose and any one of them could be considered Witnessing.
