So whooping your child is child abuse now?! I couldn't even fathom how I would have turned out if I wasn't whooped. I give my mother enough problems because she gives me a little bit of leeway when we argue about something. The moment I get out of line, I get hit! Back in Haiti, where she grew up, they got whooped every single day for just about anything! With sticks, tree brances, anything! This was not considered child abuse to them. In the United States, notice how society has have gone downhill since the law inacted the no hitting the child act in schools. And people think it's child abuse trying to discipline their kids. And then they grow up to kill others because of their spoiled rotten attitude. Just a prospective view on how ignorant and blind as a society we have become!

I know people get enraged and point fingers at homosexuals but was there anything about sexual perversions regarding children or pedophiles, it seems to go vastly ignored with Christianity. You don't hear much shaming about that, but you hear a lot of shaming and belittling of homosexuals. Your thoughts on that.....
Have you read the Bible?

Whooping is not necessary.

Your intentions were to give your mother problems and you managed to do that because she allowed it. If the behavior was not appropriate in the first place, she should have stopped it from the beginning and not waited until you went overboard. She gave you false information. She said, "What you are doing now is fine" (when it actually wasn't), and then whooped you when she had enough. That was her fault. Perhaps she was hoping you would come to your senses and stop, but sometimes our hopes never come true. There is no use waiting for them.

Things have always gone downhill for people who never stop and live in awareness and enjoy life.

As a believer, I reared my children without the spankings.

My (first) husband and I were in the midst of a discussion (can't call it a debate!) on whether or not it had a place in our home. We had not yet reached a final decision when he was killed, when they were ages 5 and 2. I considered which side he was leaning toward and took it, because I felt like his own upbringing was more successful than mine. I have never regretted that decision.

They are both in their late 30s now. By the grace of G-d, I am So Proud of my two bears!

I wish I could take credit for them! How I wish it! And I used to! But while I laid the foundation, it was G-d who stepped in and filled in where I failed.

I was not perfect. I made mistakes. But again, I have never regretted not spanking

Nobody can abuse a child and claim they did it because Jesus had done it. Because Jesus never hurt anyone.

These people who abuse children are not true born again Christians. Many sexual perverts and pedophiles only join the Church to get access to trust and young children.

Jesus said if anyone causes a child to sin, it would be better for that abuser to never have been born, such is the severity of the coming punishment.

No true born again Christian would ever hurt or abuse anyone, especially a young child.

These abusers are lost people and no matter how many times they attend Church and read their Bible, they are not sincere born again Christian.

A sincere born again Christian would rather die than to hurt a young child.

That's why I never gave ANYBODY a free pass when it came to my children.

New American Bible, Mathew 18:5-10.

It not only speaks against child abuse by Christ's representatives, but also against His Church ignoring it (last line).

For a 17 year old...you seem pretty advanced in your thinking...which COULD be a good thing!

Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

There is a difference between abusive beatings and loving discipline.

It is not possible to discuss "reason" with a child...the only thing they know is that certain actions result in pain. Such as whacking the baby's hand lightly and saying no-no when they touch something that is a danger to them. I have always employed the 1-2-3 on their behind (NEVER anywhere else and never in anger) for minor to severe wrong doings. This practice stopped when they reached the age of reason...12 years of age...replaced by long drawn out sermons...

Peace!

I myself, believe that Child abuse is the most awful thing. If you don't want children don't have them. And God doesn't condone it. Yet the bible may not specifically say that it condones child abuse, there are these bible verses that are saying it's okay. Some church going, bible reading people, may take it the wrong way and say "the bible said it's okay so I'm not doing anything wrong". That's just the way I feel.
