Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
How do we cast our problems, concerns and whatever else troubles us onto Him when our human nature wants to fix things our way? Are there things we need to remember?

We need to remember that even when our lives seem to be in human shambles, by human standards,He is here and in complete control.

Amen, when we can't see a way, He is making the way, and we may not even see what He was doing until much later. God is good all the time. God's ways so much greater than imperfect human standards. God bless.

When I come to the end of all the light that I have and take that first step into the unknown. I must believe that one of two things will happen. There'll be something solid to stand on or God will teach me to fly.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I needed to get to know God pretty well before I could cast all my cares upon Him. Intellectually, I knew God was in control, but--still--I wanted to take things into my own hands, and it just didn't feel right not to worry and fret. As I got into the Word more and more, I would pray that God would reveal Himself to me. I needed to read the Bible--Old Testament and New--several times. I needed to see how God historically dealt with people, and I needed to read the myriad promises given to His people. The more I read my Bible, the more I got to know God. I learned that He is a God of love, but also one of discipline. He is a God or order, not chaos. He is a God that keeps his word, sees the beginning and the end, and intervenes in the affairs of man. He is just, and He will judge rightly. He cares about His creation, and He wants only the best for His children. He can protect and guide. He is a God of infinite wisdom and compassion, and He understands the intricacies of life, the human body, and the human mind and condition far more than I ever will, so He is far more capable of coming to a solution to life's problems than I am. I also learned I needed to listen to Him, and that usually means I have to be still (quit being busy or trying to solve my own problems or worrying) and then I can hear His voice. Although He sometimes lets bad things happen, there will come a period of restoration, rest, and joy as we turn to Him and give Him control. I take great comfort in the fact that there is a time and season for everything; seasons DO come to an end!

It's amazing how often snippets of memory verses or Bible reading pops into my head. He is faithful and just . . . He will cleanse me from all unrighteousness . . . He has a plan for me . . . His plan is to prosper me and not harm me. . . He knew me in my mother's womb . . . There is a balm in Gilead . . . His name is a tower of strength . . . I can shelter under His wing . . . He's the Great Physician . . . He will supply all my needs . . . He loves me with an everlasting love . . . etc., etc., etc. The Spirit has a knack for bringing just the right thought to mind. I always have the one verse I fall back on when I'm close to going under--Philippians 4:8. It has a list of things to think about; not one of them is negative.

If I get into the habit of praying without ceasing (praying about all the little things that pop up during the day, and offering praise throughout the day), I find it much easier to get serious about praying when I really need to. Another verse that resets my mind is the one that says to be thankful in ALL things. (Sometimes I have to get creative! ) Cultivating an attitude of thanksgiving, praise, and prayer makes casting my cares SO much easier.

Finally, something I've noticed over and over . . . If I am in the Word daily, and especially if I have some sort of systematic Bible reading plan, there's always something in my reading that pertains to whatever situation I'm facing. I don't have to go looking through the Bible or searching the concordance for verses that pertain to my situation. However, if I haven't opened my Bible for awhile (or for ages! ), no amount of searching gets me what I need. I need to renew my relationship with God and spend some serious time alone with Him and His Word before I find what I need.

Get to know God

Hide His Word in your heart

Pray without ceasing

Most three point sermons are much longer. It takes talent and time to say that much in such a short time. I trust you won't mind me adding a forth point.

Wait on His timing. This is the tough part for me. In a world where we have drive-up windows at fast food resturants waiting is not one of the things most of us do well.

I definitely like your fourth point!
Patience isn't always one of my virtues, either.

I also like the way you shortened the "sermon." Sometimes, I get way too wordy.
