Ok, I used to be part of a really large church back when I was in college. It was mostly college aged folks that went and another service was for the much older folks. I'd say a few thousand college students would attend the service, and most were also the leaders too, so it was a huge church and gathering for college folks.

Now, when I was there in bible study, the leaders would openly judge and put down the Mormon church. They would also get defensive and say "they aren't judging the Mormons but they are just wrong about the way that they worship". So, it was one of The Bible studies missions to convert Mormons into bible based Christians. One of their tactics was to pretend to be friends with random Mormon folks, pretend to like their religion, and slowly convert and manipulate the Mormon folks into being bible based Christians. One church leader blurted out to me, out of the way, that they are just going to pretend to be your friend. The church was also very much against Psychology for some reason.

Another church member/leader (of the same church) told me she was seducing people that didn't regularly believe in her denomination so that they would attend her church and stay with the church (I'm not sure if she was lying to me) but again I felt a little creeped out.

Does anybody have any opinions on this? It seemed very strange and even a bit unethical to me, I didn't feel comfortable continuing at that church; however, other Christians might have a different perspective on this and can explain a different view or if you agree please say so and offer your thoughts.

My thoughts are ..."Where was the love of Christ"? IMO their tactics are not christlikeIf they showed a little Christlike behavior, maybe people would be drawn to them as they were Him...

The leaders would say that Mormons believe in strange and wrong beliefs and they worship the wrong way. Then made a mission to convert Mormons to Christians by pretending to be their friends. I just didn't see the whole point in it and was a little creeped out by their obsession with those that are "different". I'm not Mormon but like I said, I was a bit creeped out and didn't agree with their ways and left. Also they were openly anti-psychology and didn't understand how that fits in with Christ and God.....can anybody answer that?

Strange and wrong beliefs is not condemning.
This is what you are called to do.
Strange - anything that is different from what you believe in is strange.
Wrong - that in no way is condemning but showing that is contrary to what the Bible teaches

Saying that Mormons are forever damned to hell is condemning.

Pretending to be friends can be wrong but depends on how you look at it.
Jesus hanged out with the sinners....some may say he was 'pretending to be friends with them' so they can be saved.

I'm not sure what you mean by anti-psychology.

It is clear as day. They were against it and thought it interfered with Christ and God.

20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.

O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.

basically if it goes against what the Word of God teaches then it's wrong
