Let me preface this by saying that I AM a Christian [even though I am sure there are those who would tell me I am not because I do not meet "their" requirements for being one.
I think Obama debunked that statement by out and out saying he was not the Messiah. Is that not enough?
I think it is amazing when Christians take up arms against a professed and practicing Chrisitan yet revere Ronald Reagan - who regularly consulted astrologists to help him make important decisions. Then you have the entire Bush family who profited off of the rise of Nazi Germany and were/are members of the Yale Skull and Bones secret society.
There is a reason many churches decry "secret societies" like free masonry, and other ritualistic "clubs" "societies" etc. From what I understand the rituals can be qutie Satanic.
I will NOT vote for McCain because I am scared he will loose his cool and further alienate us even more from the rest of the world. His retreat to TR's "walk softly and carry a big stick" terrifies me. I do believe, however, he seems to be who he is [WYSIWYG] which is refreshing.
I think people are saying Barack will bring one world goverment and this is all signs of the rapture etc. but I don't read stuff into all the mystical magical projections people make from the book of Revelation. It stands out the Jesus told us no one would know the time - yet we seek "insider" knowledge of things to be.
Since I live in a RED state, and my vote will not actually count, I will cast my vote for Cynthia McKinney, the Green candidate - else I would choose Obama over McCain.
I hope the mods don't move this post to the politics forum because I really want to hear Shanabrown's response.
I've come to respect you Shana, and believe you to be a good and sincere Christian ( although you still have not convinced me about universalism).
I hope your right about Obama. There is alot to be said for a leader who can inspire a country, and history is full of great leaders who have done so.
As your typical middle class white guy, Obama as president makes me nervous. Not because of his race, he is a good man who will no doubt inspire many for good reason. I'm afraid of a fundamental shift in the american way of life.
We'll have a very liberal house and senate leader, and a very liberal President who will no doubt appoint a very liberal court.
The balance of power envisioned by our founders may be at risk. I only wish Obama's views were more moderate.
Your thoughts?
Hi Oakback, thank you for your kind comments. I must confess that I have not been as politically knowledgable as I should have been in the past and that this election is one that has encouraged me to become more involved. I am concerned about the direction this country has taken over the past 8 years under the leadership of the current president, for whom I did not vote, and I believe that Obama is the better candidate. His platform does indicate that he is interested in bringing about positive changes for the country and I also believe that his actions have indicated that he is willing to reach across party lines, consider more center positions on some issues, say for example, his choice of his economic advisors. I don't know for sure that he would appoint a very liberal court because from what I understand he has considered more individuals w/more moderate positions, but then again he may. I think that he puts a lot of thought into the actions and positions that he takes and that he takes into consideration , opposing or alternate views before coming to decisions. There have been reports that he is the most liberal Democrat in the Senate based on his voting record, but from what I understand the report is not totally accurate, failing to take into account his record in previous years and his absence in voting on some of the issues due to being on the campaign trail. Like I said, Oakback, I am not the most politically astute person and these are just my opinions but I would like to say that I can't see myself supporting some of the views, actions, tactics, and judgments of the opposing candidate, like the his vice presidential choice and his support of many of the policies of the current president. This is of great concern to me. Hope this helps to answer some of your questions. Thanks again and God bless.

In Acts 14:11-14 is an example of what a person who claims to be Christian should do when people claim they are gods. In this case of (Acts 14) the Bible speaks about a false god..Zeus and Hermes
Read what Pauls and Barabas' reaction. In the custom of the day, they were so upset by this they "torn their clothes" and "rushed into the crowd" to attempt to stop such talk. Their objection must have been vocal enough that it lead them to be stoned and left for dead Act 14:19
What is Obama's reaction to the Messiah claim.... I did not see no such reaction. Of course the tearing of clothes is not custom, nor is stoning one (at least in a non-islam country). But the point is that if Obama is as Christian as he claims to be, he should have placed his faith over votes. He should have objected so publicly, so vehemently about being compared to the Messiah. If he would have truely put that claim in its place with as much force, energy and put that as far from him as humanly possible to the point of losing his life (politically), then from a christian viewpoint I would say he be a role model
Yet.... there are going to be christians who are ok with that. If there is but one reason I hope he doesn't win (besides the fact socialism doesn't work, nor the redistribution of wealth is American) is that too many in this world does view him as the 'messiah'.
I get soooooooo tired of all the stuff that is made up about Obama. Every time someone makes up more stuff all you have to do is go to snopes.com and prove it all wrong! Even proved this one wrong! snopes.com: Is Barack Obama the Anti-Christ?
Get all those little emails that people scared of Obama send out and look them up in the Obama section of snopes. Good reading!
"At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time.
Christians know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, not Barack Obama. Some people may always look to him as a messiah, deliverer because of what he may symbolize for them.
Def:
1.
the promised and expected deliverer of the Jewish people.
2.
Jesus Christ, regarded by Christians as fulfilling this promise and expectation. John 4:25, 26.
3.
(usually lowercase ) any expected deliverer.
4.
(usually lowercase ) a zealous leader of some cause or project.
5.
(italics ) an oratorio (1742) by George Frideric Handel.
From what I understand, Barack does not fit the characters of the messiah that Islam is looking for:
Quote:
In trying to identify the person who will be the Mahdi and the Saviour, the only source we have is the Prophet of Islam. According to his sayings, the basic characteristics of Mahdi are as follows:1. He will be an Arab, from the tribe of Banû Hãshim.2. He will be from the descendants of the Prophet Muhammadthrough his daughter Fatima.3. He will be the descendant of Husayn, son of Fatima and ‘Ali.4. He will appear in Mecca.5. Finally, one of the most interesting thing that we find in the sayings of the Prophetis that Imam al-Mahdi will be helped by Prophet Jesus
He ain't my messiah. When mine comes we're all gonna know it.
Amen! I could never vote democrat because they support abortion and a list of other horrible sins. But Mr. Obama is the choice of many in other countries and probably could have won the election in Sodom and Gomorrah as well.
Having said that, the other side of the political fence does look better, but my complete confidence will remain with our LORD JESUS CHRIST! I trust only the LORD. Mankind does not have the answers and as the bumber sticker on my car says, JESUS is the answer!
Yall go vote if ya want to. But other than the faithful Christians, this country is going down the tube on its way to doom. But we who are in CHRIST JESUS are on our way to the Heavenly City not made with human hands.
Best wishes to all who are in CHRIST JESUS!
