I am a religious historian... I am well read in all the discussion I have read in here... While all is significant, from a historical point of view, what is most important is that Jesus said before his crucifiction... that he must go away... but... he would send a teacher back to be available for each and every one of us that will have him... If you will have him, he lives in you .... today.... talks to you today... and gives you that peace of heaven on earth today... So if you have those little private prayers with your soul... you have entered the kingdom of heaven that begins on earth as described by Jesus... The only true teachings that we should be focused on.. are the teachings that come directly from Jesus.... then the apostles who were commissioned to carry the message as he taught it out in the world..
Probably a million + writings by humans that are trying to write religion... call it Jesus's but put there on twist onto what Jesus taught... We don't need a twist... We just need Jesus... Troy

Jesus spent the three days during which His body lay in the tomb teaching the "spirits in prison." For these spirits, having no knowledge of His gospel, probably was "hell."

Uh... excuse me? Mormons absolutely do not believe in the Trinity, nor do they accept any of the Creeds of traditional Christianity. They believe in the Godhead described in the Bible, but not in a three-in-one substance.

Most notably is the scriptures at 1 John 5:7:8 & I Timothy 3:16 which most all modern day scholar have proven to be spurious.
Neither the text of 1 John 5:7-8 or 1 Tomothy 3:16 is found in the Book of Mormon. You seriously have a long way to go before you are the authority on Mormonism you consider yourself to be.
