491 years ago today, Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Castle Church door spurring on the Reformation.

Thought about forum rules and decided to put a link to the German site which has links to the 95theses and the works of Luther
A man who we don't worship for he was only a flawed man [not infallable as are the claims concerning the pope], but brought much insight to the Church

I've heard that there are people who think we worship Martin Luther. I've never heard that in real life, but then again I'm from the heart of Luther-land.

Live in the South why don't ya?

Lets see - we were founded by a black civil rights activist [didja know that!]

We are going to HELL, h e double l HELL!

Martin Luther had the right idea about Jews [the embarrasing stand he took in his later years which has been a blight on the church - but Lutherans do not view him as any more than a man with great insight] - Yes, it is scary - a right wing reformed presbyterian who thought genocide was "right".

We are going to be victims of bad luck [those of us who don't take down the tree until epiphany instead of the new year]

-and many more -

Funny, my work trips to Minneapolis-St Paul for work have always left me feeling so good because the people are so nice and kind. And I know the bulk are either Lutherans or Roman Catholics up there ..............................

I remember when I joined a Lutheran church back in the day my parents freaked. They thought it was a church like LDS or the JW.

Winters vs Sacramental Theology: Other theories.

Because its where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average?

-or-

Lutefisk has a cleansing effect on the soul?

LOL!!! I'm imagining Lutherans walking door-to-door with Thermoses full of coffee and rolls of styrofoam "Thrivent" cups.

Generally most people I have met think we are Roman Catholics who like beer and let our "priests" get married. But at least we are not "wild" like those darned Episcopalians
