What was that statistic supposed to be anyways? The percentage of Americans who are supposedly Christian? What a bunch of baloney! All I have seen and heard lately out of so-called Christians is how we might have to pay more for taxes and what is in the stimulus package for us. Who cares about the people who are struggling (the widow, orphan and refugee who God COMMANDED that we care for) because if we develop programs to help them that would be *gasp* socialism and we don't want that! All I see in churches is a bunch of over-dressed, over-stuffed, spoiled rotten people riding high on their "entitlement" to their American dreams and if they have to trample others to do so then by golly they get what they deserve as long as I get what I want!! Do you honestly think that is what Jesus hung on a cross for? Your self-indulgence?
...decembergirl...that you feel this way.....you know...we aren't all bad...everyone is on their own path...all different directions...some good, and some not so good...but Jesus loves us each and every one, right where we are, and I hope He sends to you those who would be a true representative of His love and character...God bless you...I pray He will send someone to you...Love

Who said, the church doesn't care? My church raised $500,000 for the missions. I bought a poor guy gas today so many Christians are trying to do their part. The stimulus package however is its own beast for many it is not the answer and people have a right to have reservations about it.
The bible says, a great deal of things such as being good stewards of your money etc....
The bible says, a great deal of things such as being good stewards of your money and the "refugees"? are you talking about illegal aliens? because if you are then they are breaking the law, thus a sin.
Whose law? Man's or God's?? Does God not want us to care for illegal aliens?

Many American Christians have prayers limited to things like asking God to help them find their keys.

First of all I am black and a canadian citizen living in the U.S. therefore no deeming me to have an imperial or racist attitude.
If you are an illegal alien and you are breaking man's laws then you are breaking God's laws because God expects us to obey the laws of the government therefore it is a sin, rebllion against God to enter another country illegally.
I can give food, blankets and shelter BUT if the government wants to send them back then harboring them will cause me to sin also.
Am I the only one lost here? What statistic spoken by whom? In what context? Why this rant? A Christian hiney is only 85%?
Now if being a Christian would reduce my gut 85%, than I'm all for it, amen and amen.
I can't remember the statistic. Some fairly high percentage of America being Christian that just makes me wonder since the majority of our actions seem to speak otherwise. And yes, I am ranting. I just don't understand. I have seen a lot of Christians just seeming to hate their fellow man, and this world whenever it inconveniences them or their "morals" and that seem very contrary to me.
And didn't they accuse Jesus of breaking man's law? So does that invalidate that he was without sin?
I was just saying, people see fundamentalist and assume racist, white man. Pilate himself found no fault in Jesus.

I am sure you can care for an illegal alien without harboring or encouraging their illegal behaviors. Or at least a clever person could do so.
To be honest, I don't know. You are probably sinning by helping illegal aliens, they are no different than fugitives from the law. You tell me.
