Christmas may be secular at your house, but it isn't at my house. We honor the birth of our King! (Regardless of when it 'actually' took place.)
If you can't celebrate Christmas without being caught up in the materialism, by all means, don't do it.
But at the center of my and my family's holiday, there's a babe in a manger who carried the weight of my sins to the cross.

Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of Christ. Does it really matter if we somehow happen to get it on the wrong day. We still celebrate it and I don't plan to stop the celebration. Glory to God in the Highest and on earth; peace, good will toward men. God is love!

Interesting array of viewpoints, thanks for the posts.
To clarify, we (freedom's family) enjoy and continue to celebrate the appointed observance of our Saviors birth. Exchanging gifts, decorating a tree, playing music, etc...
Every year we discuss a better way to express our joy and appreciation, rather than make it mostly about "chinese plastic", we have some little one's still.
The pendulum of purpose appears to be swinging more and more to the commercial and secular by believer and non, so after seeing the News story of the blasphemist display of Anti Christ in the Washington State building, i thought maybe this is a pivotal time to say enough is enough and we will stop spending if you keep debasing the true meaning of Christmas, and redefining the truth of the observance.
godspeed,
freedom

I think the 'secular' part is HOW YOU CELEBRATE IT.

I think that's the key - if the Lord convicts you of it, shed it like a leather coat in July. I think He wants us in a place where it doesn't mean anything to us one way or the other, and if family and friends want to celebrate it, fine. The main thing (as all year round) is to be sensitive to His leading.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Rom 8:14)

This is how it is at our house too. We celebrate because God loves enough to give us the greatest gift we'll ever have, Jesus.

Amen NCN!
Giving glory to God and praising Him and thanking Him for sending Jesus to us, how can that be pagan? Keep the focus on Jesus, it is His birthday, even though the actually date is probably wrong, just celebrate that He was born and that He did not stay a baby in the manger, but He went to the cross and died for us and now sits at the right hand of the Father and is interceding for us!

The birth of Christ is the last thing I think about when I admire my Christmas tree and Christmas lights in front of my house.
I don't think stores want me to think about religion when they have so many great sales at the end of the year.
My bank is closed because it is a secular holiday not a holyday in their eyes.
Christmas is for children to enjoy. Visiting Santa and getting gifts for being good.
There is no reason why non-christians should be ignored this season, and I understand why the term "Happy Holidays" is used by merchants and any by anyone who deals with the public. When you think about it, don't we all deal with the public? Happy Holidays!

To each his own, but I shall continue to remember my Lord and Savior as an adult, and all that He did during His ministry, and the fact that He is now in Heaven at the right hand of God. I will commemorate His crucifixion every first day of the week as I partake of His Holy communion....as instructed in His word.

Remembering Jesus and honoring him every day...I couldn't agree with you more. Which is why on Dec 25th...a known holiday that is packed with traditions that celebrate pagan gods, I choose NOT to put up a christmas tree or partake in any of the festivities.

You know, if the three wisemen that were bearing gifts for the King were alive today, I would ask them the exact birthdate. But since they're not, I'll take the REASON for the SEASON any day!!
(Pun intended).
