Yes.
That was short and to the point.
Ideally one (our own inner voice) should line up with the other (the still small voice of God).

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by,
and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD;
but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
1Kings 19:11,12

Often the Lord uses Scripture to speak to us, so it important that we be familiar with it, so He can bring it to mind.
Frequently His leading is accompanied by peace – the strength of the Lord in our hearts.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

John 14:26,27

"It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
Isaiah 65:24

This is a very good scripture, but we must remember who Jesus was speaking to. The Holy Spirit did "teach" the ones Jesus was speaking to"all things", and He did "Bring to (their) remembrance all that (He, Jesus) said to them.

It is all written in the epistles.....

Me, too, Sherry. It's the most amazing feeling. I'm glad to hear someone else feels the same.

That child-like faith sure can come in handy. Mark 10:15

The Holy Spirit has brought applicable verses to my mind in troubled moments, when my mind was only on a situation at hand;
Scripture was the furthest thing from my mind.

I'm nobody special, so I don't buy that it was only for the Apostles.
They certainly required a great deal more detail and completeness in what was revealed to them,
but God will certainly bring applicable Scripture to our minds too.
That's one reason we should have the Word stored in our hearts and minds.

Saul of Tarsus had a clear conscience when he was persecuting the Christians. A person's conscience is generally guided by what they believe. If their belief is warped,or misplaced, so is their conscience.

I hope my conscience is guided by all that I know about the word and will of God.

Spiritual discernment is IMHO, a serious issue.

The tools I use are;
prayer
scripture
other Christians
spiritual direction from a qualified and trusted spiritual director

However, at the end of the day, there remains many mysteries.
And I continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling

bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

Jesus spoke to the apostles face to face, I do not recall Him doing that to me, except through the written word.
A lot of what He said face to face to the apostles was not recorded until the Spirit brought it to their remembrance.

Now, when we have believed all that was recorded, it can be "brought to our remembrance", but it's not likely that is what Jesus was speaking of in that instance. If we have the written word stored in our hearts (minds) we should be able to bring it to mind.

Oatback....I am agreement with what you posted about Spiritual discernment being a serious issue. And we can study God's word every day of our life, and still find something that we did not notice before, and still not know it all !

For them - they had Jesus.
For us - "all that He said" is His Word.

Of course, we are to bring Scripture to mind to apply to our lives.
Your OP was about discerning His voice from the human conscience.
I was just saying that, God is able to bring applicable Scripture to mind for sudden insight into a particular situation.

If He can create everything and He can raise the dead, I don't see why He would not be able to do that.
I'm not talking about "Thus sayith the Lord..."
...Merely an unexpected but extremely apt bit of Scripture.

Of course, neither you nor I were there to hear the actual words of Jesus.
That's just being silly; you know that's not what I was saying.

The Holy Spirit is given to us also.
We don’t have the job of being Apostles, but the Spirit is not powerless.

He is living and active as is the Word.
They are always in agreement.
He can use the Word to speak something to us as individuals and not JUST as a corporate body.

We are to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Not all that God speaks has been written down.

He is that still small voice within. As we develop ears to hear, we will be led by every word that proceeds out of His mouth, just as it is with all Saints.

Practice, Practice, Practice.... Ask, Seek, Knock.

godspeed,

freedom

I m' sorry..Richio, I wasn't rebuking you! I was pointing that out for others who do not understand that.
I definitely agree with what you said.

I agree with your follow-up post also.
