I was just reading through a thread and one poster said to another..."well, I know that you believe this, but where is that in the Bible?". My question is, what if we don't have the 'whole' story. I mean, really, there is a lot missing from the Bible. We know that Noah was instructed to build the ark. We know that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, but what was going on while all that rain was coming down? We know that Jesus was born to a virgin in a stable and we know that He died on a cross to save us of our sins. But we only know a little of the 'in between' years. So what's to say that just because it isn't in the Bible, it isn't true?

Just wanting to hear some of your thoughts...
I believe in systematic theology but that is not "fill in the blanks" What we have is sufficient if we needed more it would have been revealed to us.
To get away from the bible is beyond dangerous. We have seen the horrors and carnage it has caused throughout earth's history from Jim Jones to modern cults claiming to be Christian.
God's Word is perfect and more than sufficient for us finite beings. So much so that I believe we will spend countless lifetimes in heaven deciphering the rest of God's words to us.

But why? Would you need to know 'God's word' in heaven? Wasn't his so-called "manual" meant for THIS life and to be understood in THIS life?

I am sure that if I am wrong you will correct me, which is what I am looking for. So here goes...
I understand that the Bible is written by man, inspired by God. BUT, didn't man put it all together? Aren't there books that have been purposely left out? Isn't it possible that we have not discovered all that was written? What then? I seem to recall that even you have read/studied books that were left out. Did you not discover something from them? Isn't this information important?

Condemned, I am not in any way asking you to step out of this thread, so please do not take it as such. However, I purposefully posted it in the 'Christian' subforum. Please do not turn this into any sort of fight. Don't 'battle' with fundametalist. PLEASE! Let's just discuss.

Nope, there is much in the bible we do not fully understand, God in His infinite wisdom basically dumbed down the bible for us. even the bible talks about things that either we were not ready for or that we wouldn't fully understand.

Just looking for thoughts...
"Lost books of the bible"? They have been studied hard and long and they just did not "jive" with how the bible was written therefore left out. I believe there was divine guidance in putting together His beautiful love letter to us.

Some people don't even believeany of what is written, much-less half. What is the purpose of wanting more? Don't we have enough to know right from wrong?
its not a history book its mostly literature that teaches how to live in a successful manner.
we are neither reading living or following scripture these days, with predictable results.
