Feel at Home with the Christian Faith but not the Christian Church?
How many non-practicing Christians do you suppose there are? Why do so many people identify themselves as Christian but do not actively participate at a church?
Even with the best of intentions, things can go awry. Has the church lost its way? Do most Christian churches reflect the core tenants of Jesus in their actions and posture? What has your experience been?
Do you agree with the assertions made on this site: www.nonpracticingchristian.com ?

I don't believe that "church" is something that defines a Christian. It's what is done outside of the hour on Sunday, wearing your Sunday best to impress, that matters.
The question should be......"are you living your faith"?? I feel no obligation to attend church at this time, because there is not one that fits me in my area. I hope to move soon, and at that time I believe God will lead me to the right one.
The church is the body of Christ, not a building.

Probably just as many, or more, as those who do go to church...LOTS...

Church is a turnoff for them. Could be any number of different reasons. I'm not saying they're valid reasons, but to them, they are.

Probably.

I think most do try. But most also tend to get caught up and ensnarled with man-made rules and doctrines that "you must" abide by...which I feel is a lot of the reason some people don't go to church...

It's a attempt to get some of the "non-practicing Christians" to come visit and join their church. I don't see anything wrong with that.:

Going to church takes effort. That alone is unappealing, sad to say, for many who claim to be Christians. Sleeping in is easier. Some also want to avoid what they deem as being sucked in, being asked to help out in some way. Good thing God didn't take the easy way out when it came to saving us.

I don't go to a church building. It isn't because I am lazy. Not one iota. Let's leave it at that.

I don't mean to group every person claiming to be a Christian that does not attend church as lazy, I just know of several that are. There are indeed other reasons, but one of the big ones is lack of ambition.

LOL that was my first thought too.
Is that like a non-breathing live person?
I understand what the OP is getting at and can identify with it totally. I think a lot of folks who are truly Christian and don't go to church may have at one time been really on fire for the Lord and the church dumped a big bucket of water over their zeal.
A Christian without brothers, sisters, leaders, and peers to encourage, correct, and edify them, will be a wilted branch. They may sit at home on Sunday morning and long for the passion they once carried.

No...don't you get it. You see they want no rules or standards. Everybody reads and interpret the bible the way they want to. Whatever you interpret is right
