Is it just me or are the sermon's silly and ridiculous and virtually meaningless?
Does it bring any meaning or depth to anybody's lives? Do you put to much value into sitting in a church, singing old and redundant hymn's being played by organ, and shaking a person's hand whom you have no intention of befriending?? It all seems so meaningless.

Well if you are not being spiritually fed and uplifted at your church, then it's time to change. But if you are not a Christian then that's the experience that you will have no matter where you go, unless it's Pentacostal or any of the African American churches near me.

It's not supposed to be like you described.

DayoftheLord is absolutely correct. I would encourage you to look for a Bible believing Bible teaching church.

Well, as Catholics we believe in something called the Eucharist, where we receive the literal blood and body of Jesus Christ.

I suppose if I were to go to a baptist ministry, and was to hear the bible every Sunday I'd think it was worthless too. I could just as easily read the bible on my own. But going to Catholic mass is much different than your protestant service.

You do realize you are talking about the bride of Christ?

How is a catholic service different?

A protestant service has communion which is the same as Eucharist.

Those are the church's I'm talking about. It's nothing but dry scripture being preached loudly through a PA system. People shake hands but are begrudging to continue friendliness after the service....etc.

In all honesty, I find most sermons trite and not worth the time and effort put into them. I suppose I could say that almost any church building is a waste of time and money. Certainly Jesus never felt the need to create a building for His people to hang out in three or four times a week......and having grown up with a step-daddy that was a carpenter, I am certain he could have had one erected without much problem.

Jesus was baptized in the River, not a baptismal. Jesus preached on the waterfront, from a boat, or on the side of a mountain....not a pulpit. He went to Jewish Temples, but as a student and as a teacher....but then He was a Jew......when He began His ministry He didn't teach within the confines of a building......

You are correct. Even the more progressive biblical churches are ridiculous in how they flaunt their possessions, wealth, and successes.
