What'd you expect, Utopia?
Err...how about a better plan to begin with?

How about there was a better plan and man screwed it up. Perhaps all other plans would have made things worse with man screwing constantly screwing up. Perhaps the senerio we are living now was the least destructive when man screwed up.

Fundy, what are you talking about back on the post where you said you are not an American?

Man could NOT screw it up if this god never made man in the first place OR had a better, safe proof plan in place that does not see the OVERWHELMING destruction of your prized creation just to save a "remnant" in comparison. Any CEO for any company putting such a disastrous plan in effect and with his "eyes wide opened" to it, would be unemployed the next day.

If I use the logic some Christians use, on any given day in the past 2,000 years, the great majority of mankind has ended up in some hell and lost forever, right? Far more are lost than "saved." How could this plan be considered even remotely successful, Robin? Supposedly a god with all knowledge ad foresight saw this all before it all unfolded and he still allowed it to go on. No offense, but my 9 year old daughter could have come up with a better plan.

That's the teaching of the majority of Christians, but that's not what the Bible teaches - so back up the truck...

It is God's good pleasure to fashion His creation with the intention of gathering together all things in Christ (Eph 1) - what you see now is the birthing process of a creation in travail (Rom 8:22, Rev 12:2). Just because we see this as a world out of control in no way denigrates the plan, purpose, perfection or authority of almighty God.

We need the correction - I'm not saying we need to clean everything up, no - I'm saying the first order of business is to align our vision, to see God high and lifted up - our conduct will follow; but a people who lack vision stagger.

Ok, to rein this topic back in, I was referring to examples such as the Persian Zoroastrian influence upon Jewish thoughts in regards to subjects like hell, paradise, demons and angels which was eventually picked up by the Christians and subsequently, Islam. Another example would be the sourcing of some of the older parts of the Old Testament by Sumerian myths.

To the student of religious history factoring these things actually makes understanding the Bible/Koran far more interesting, but conversely, it could probably raise questions and fears in the believer's mind, that is, if they are honest about it.

Agreed, mankind is due for a "humbling" that has never been brought about before. When we "fall' we get up sinning. We don't get it"! If we don't obey the law of this land, how then we will be obey the law of the kingdom to come? A humbling is in order. Soon.
