Jesus said to the church in Philadelphia, "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation [tribulation period], which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." (Revelation 3:10-11)

Frankly I have no desire to see anyone get Raptured

Rapture Scripture:

Proverbs 2:21-22
Quote:
"For the upright will live in the earth, and the blameless will remain in it."
"but the wicked will be cut off from the earth, and the unfaithful will be torn from it."
So you say you want to get Raptured ???

Friend, the 7 year tribulation period is going to be all out judgment from God; you don't want to be here. Read Matthew 25 about the 5 foolish virgins and the 5 wise virgins who trimmed their lamps (the Holy Spirit).

The "rapture" idea comes mainly from 1 Thes. 4 and is a misapplication of things spoken by Paul to his generation about things that were to happen to him and to his contemporaries.

When Paul used the personal pronoun "we," he meant to convey himself and his fellow saints of his day.

"WE who are alive and remain until the COMING OF THE LORD will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God [interestingly, this is NOT in like manner as the disciples saw Him go in Acts 1!!!!]. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then WE [Paul and his contemporaries] who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus WE [Paul and his contemporaries] shall always be with the Lord."

We must not ignore the impact of personal pronouns. The same is true of Matthew 24 where Jesus says "you" some 20 times. He was referring to His disciples right there with Him about things that were to soon personally happen to THEM. WE are not the YE!

(1 Thessalonians 4)

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Both this scripture and Revelation 3:10-11 confirm the Rapture. Jesus is coming for His Bride, not all Christians. Will you be a member of the bridal company?

(Ephesians 5)

26 That he [Jesus] might sanctify and cleanse it [the church] with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

It takes holy living to be a member of this church. You must be blood-bought, holy and Holy Ghost filled.

Greetings, scgraham: Who are the "we" of 1 Thes. 4?

Those who make up the Bride. There will be a rapture of the Bride, but not all Christians. Matthew 25 gives a parable of 5 foolish virgins and 5 wise virgins. You must be born-again, i.e., living holy and free from sin, to even be considered a virgin; then, you must go on to the baptism of the Holy Ghost to be wise; and, you must keep the flame alive.

The Christians who are left behind will endure the horrible tribulation period.

(Revelation 6:9-11) And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

(Luke 21:36) "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."
