That is an excellent answer! Hoosier is being a responsible, biblical parent!

You may want to spend your precious time researching something a little more believable than Pokemon, and also spend a lot more time researching the fact that god isn't actually real.

I agree with your post but what I really want to say is that you have the COOLEST screen name on the board!!! Huzzah!!! Barfing Tuna for President!

No, not always, sometimes people just get stuck on the cigarettes.

With me I began playing D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) in the mid 70's. I read all the fantasy book I could get my hands on, I began having rune stone readings, then torot card readings and palm readings. I got into Karate and meditating etc. One day I knew I had changed. I have spent many years coming out of the lies that I have been told.

When I encountered Pokemon I heard some of the same lines that I heard with D&D. For example, they will say it is a good game because it strengthens math skills or reading skills. But the truth is that you begin using your mind to kill things, and do evil things that you would not do in the real world, until your imagination becomes seared. You become desensitized to violence, killing, death. I am not telling anyone to do or not do anything except to watch what you put in your mind. This included the violence and pornography we see on T.V. and in the movies.

The bible says: Philipians 4:8; Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

As mentioned earlier, the references that pokemon give to evolution, shintoism, budism, killing, Keeping small animal/demons in your pocket, etc. is not good. But you should decide if you want you or your children going through this door.
I've received many good responses on this question. Your response by far speaks to who I am as a man after God's heart, and as a father. I've really had a difficult time with this decision because I didn't want to disappoint my son, and at the same time be true to who we are as children of God. My son keeps saying that Pokemon is saving the world. He wants to save the world which is why he really wants the cards.

Thank you so much for this response. I now have the answer I was looking for. I do remember the 70s and my youngest brother was heavily into D&D. Our family was into tarot cards, palm readings, seances, ouija boards and anything that centered around the occult. It was only done in "fun". I've seen enormous damage in my life and the lives of family members because of this "fun". Thank you again! May God receive the glory!

Sometimes a banana is no more than just a banana. Pokeman is a toy used to entertain children. I doubt your five year old is looking for ways to escape reality and blame any misdoings on the devil. Or you could have your son grew up to believe there are dark forces in something as banal as a fortune cookie.

I agree with this completely. When our son first started playing with Pokemon, we didn't think much of it because it looked okay. Later that led him and a lot of the boys at school to play with Yugioh. We found that out when one day he brought home a Yugioh card that really concerned me. The image on the card was so evil looking that I then investigated Yugioh and learned about the Magic game too. Based upon my research including shocking quotes even from the Yugioh originator and marketers, I truly believe this is not a game God would want our kids to be playing with. I believe Pokemon is a game that opens doors to more dangerous games.

I remeber when I was a kid, way back when they first came out, I loved them. Then my mother (who was supportive of me having them) got onto the internet and got caught up in the crap that was being posted about the whole thing in general. The problem with it I think is that most people dont understand, the parents of most of these kids remember that when they were young the played and traded baseball cards, and the only thing that was close to pokemon then was Dungeons an Dragons(which was and is demonic). What happens is that when parents like my mother do this to their kids they may be missing out on valuable bonding time that this and other modern trading card games could produce between children and their parents, if you are a parent that is on the verge of doing to your kids that of which happened to me check your sources, talk to your kids about it, and even try a game with them and see what you think, dont let someone else make up your mind.

Pokemon - is it Evil or OK?

Evil. Have nothing to do with this. It does not honor God.

Pokemon? Gee whiz is that still around? I haven't seen it in so many years. My little bro loved those during his junior primary days, and now he is finishing high school. I cant believe they are still around. Anyway he turned out okay, he is more normal than me

Pokemon cards are cartoons put onto a card with letters.

Nothing scary about it. Just in some fun. I used to love that game .

IMHO, Christians get too concerned about silly things like Pokemon and Harry Potter.
