What was blasphemy about that?

That sex within a marriage is a problem is not new, and as he said, "sex is the glue that holds the marriage together" is not a new concept. that his congregation of more than 25,000 support him indicates the fact that he is touching lives.

I must confess that Colbert's comment about lambs laying down with lions appears to be somewhat out of context, but other than that I thought the interview was pretty good.

So what problems do you have with the interview fundie?

Did you watch the whole thing and how Colbert took some verses out of the bible that deals with salvation and turned them into sexual connotations and the pastor laughed, he laughed at God's word being used in such a blasphemous manner. The gospel looked ridiculous, he walked right into Colbert's lair and not only were they laughing at Young but Jesus as well.

no wonder people go to Young's church and find your sense of humor lacking.........lighten up, for cryin out loud.

Let me share a little "evangelism experience" with you........Young did more good with that few minutes than you will all year. He went on a show where the average viewer is NOT a practicing Christian (although 90% will say they believe in God). But that bit will trigger some interest in what does the Bible actually say about such things. It will open the door for Jesus to prompt a sinner to read the Bible for the first time. And if even one person out of the millions that watched that comes to know Jesus, it is worth it.

This is what is called "sowing." Where you sow seeds of faith where ever you can. Some will fall on rocky soil and not grow....but some will land on good dirt and will begin growing. Someone somewhere is learning how to develop a better marriage, a better life, a stronger family because Young had the courage to walk into Colbert's "lair" with both courage and humor. That, my friend, is a Man of God...........

Young did not preach the gospel, without that, what is good? He basically told a bunch of people that sex was good which they already knew

God has saved many people in Young's church despite of Ed Young. If you are not doing it biblically then you are doing it wrong! PRAGMATISM DOES NOT WORK IN CHRISTIANITY!

Ed Yound does not have a church, he has a pretty building, that's it because it is not run by church biblical guidelines.

I'll be sure to start Christian porn because that will bring in people for the Lord as well therefore it is good and God will be pleased right?

What insufferably arrogant pseudo Christian drivel..........Go ahead keep up your sanctimony.....drive from the church the very ones who need to hear the Word. Make sure all the rules are followed and all the people are lost..........

I have not seen the interview...and am intentionally not clicking on the link above due to personal convictions. But - did Young say or show anything that tempts the viewer with lust? Because we know that no man is tempted by God. Was it edifying to the saints in some way? Because that's what we're exhorted to do.

I'm all for taking the gospel into the highways and hedgerows...and I believe Jesus spoke in parables because ordinary people could not grasp His wisdom any other way. And I really believe, if you wish to witness to 'the unwashed' unbeliever, church talk and quoting verses with no exposition just doesn't resonate with them. My granddaddy said "get it down where the hogs can eat it." Does Young's message present the gospel in such a manner? or is it just titillation that appeals to the basest, most-prurient interest?

Young's basic message is that a married couple should attempt to have sex every day for a week. That it will bring the marriage closer together. He mentioned that if you have small kids and you don't want them around, he has a children's church available.

Frankly, I thought it was an excellent presentation in the limited amount of time Colbert gives someone. It was laced with humor, it did not advocate anything immoral or non-christian, and it touched on a subject many non-Christians think Christians believe is taboo. Showing that you CAN have a healthy sex life and still be a Christian is a pretty good idea.

Sounds like a Song of Solomon kind of gospel to me. Is the children's church operating around 11:30 on week nights?
