StirringWaters is right, no need to rip into you, we have all had similar experiences with many who claim to believe. My family was full of a bunch of violent alcoholics who never missed chuch, so I left when I was 15 and hated the church. This wasnt the only reason I turned my back on the church, but it is the most similar reason to yours. Those type of people are hypocrites and will be dealt with accordingly by the Lord. I returned to the Lord when I was 31, kicking and screaming because I hated church and wanted nothing to do with a book I perceived as being passed thru too many hands or a savior I thought was a wuss. Well that wuss kick my but and brought me home. I do not adhere to a particular denomination, I was baptised southern baptist, but tend not to agree with them completely. I too thought religion was ridiculous, and still think that way towards many I have encountered including many denominations of Christianity. What I want to share with you is something most hypocrites pay no attention to, my walk with Christ is a relationship not a religion and I pray someday you will come to a similar realization.
I finally came to the conclusion that a God that preferred my parents as opposed to me (my parents constantly imply this) and constantly forgive them for whatever they do was not a God that I wanted.
I could go on and on about how messed up by parents are when it comes to religion. One is a true hypocrite and does it just for the attention. The other one is devout but twists scripture in her favor.
But the sad part is, I spent the past few months really researching Christianity and came to find that it is all a bunch of baloney. It seems once you get to that part there is no way to go back. The one good thing about Christianity, in my opinion, is at least you have some hope. Now I know when I die I will never see my daughter again, and that is sad.
Anyway, I want to thank the responders for being so gentle and kind. I am truly grateful.

Do you think that God is your parents? Just because your parents say they believe in God and act a certain way, has no bearing on who God is.

You may be defining God through your parents poor example. Just because someone says they believe and then define what they believe, doesn't make it true.

I think you may have researched religion and churchianity. Am i wrong?

God is perfect, right? So how come he created imperfect people? And if he did, couldn't he just fix them? Instead he had to send his Son to teach us a lesson?

Here's my take on it.
God created us that we "might" have joy. He actually created us before we ever came to this earth.
Some were even named in the book of life, which were those that desired to learn His ways, some fell with Satan, and some....well they just didn't really care.
God could certainly create forced perfection, He didn't have to give man a choice, but what fun would that be?
I like that we get to use what we have learned and apply it to a physical world. Some learn to be perfect (very few), some of us learn to be evil (many). Some never change from what they were pre earth (most).
All of this brings us to Freewill. Which is an attribute of a loving Father. One that doesn't want a bunch of puppets on a string.
Again it comes back to joy.
"Joy is of the Saints, and none but they can Put it on".

I dont mean to butt in, but I couldnt resist. In actuality God did create man perfect but gave man the choice whether to be perfect or imperfect. Since man chose imperfection God went with it. You see God gave man a choice, the easy path or the hard path and man chose the hard thinking it would be easier. Obedience and learn. You see the tree of knowledge was a short cut with severe consiquences while if man had chosen to learn gradually as God intended, it would have saved alot of torment.
Not familiar with that one, is it like "to the pain", or "to blave"?
