Oh, most certainly. I get into more trouble when I search the Word like the Bereans. Usually I wind up with more questions, than answers. The Word is like a labyrinth.
But you are right,,,everything should be backed up with scripture. If there is a question, go to the ancient languages. But always with earnest prayers.

I tell you what, those Jehovah Witnesses really have some nerve. My mother said they came to her door recently and had the audacity to tell her she was wrong for having an angel statue in her garden because it was a "graven image". The nerve!!! Not only are they pests by randomly showing up at your house, but then they say stuff like that! How in the world do they expect anyone to want to listen to their garbage when they are so condemning and weird? They should be grateful it wasn't me who came to the door.

God is not against one having statues and such....it is when one bows down to those statues and worships them or prays to them....that is when he has a problem. Many do not understand Gods words and that is a darn shame.

Exactly. It is a darn shame. It especially upset me because I BOUGHT the statue for my mother.

How do I obtain eternal life? Remember I have 5 minutes, they can't because their religion is based on legalism and work righteousness. You show them that there is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven, Apostle Paul said, only by faith alone. (They will hit you with James when he said, "faith without works is dead") Study on what James really meant.
I let them give me their good news and then I give them the good news. Leave them at the door with the knowledge that there is a distinct difference in our religions and that we don't worship the same Jesus so therefore we both can't be right. If they are right, no biggie. I get a second chance in the new earth but if you are right then they are going to hell for eternity.

Fundamentalist, are you SERIOUS? You mean to tell me that you can just pray a prayer and you are saved that instant? Don't you have to manifest the fruit of a regenerated life? Don't you have to SHOW your faith through works?
Remember the saying that says... 'you are saved by faith alone, but if all you have is faith ALONE, with no works, you are going to hell'.
That's what MacArthur teaches, so it must be true.

But they were promoting a view of the gospel that, from a biblical perspective, seemed seriously flawed. They insisted there is no place in the gospel for the proclamation of Jesus' lordship. They said those who call unbelievers to surrender to Christ's authority are preaching a gospel of works. They taught that repentance is a false addition to the gospel message. They objected to any kind of evangelism that employed the language of denying oneself, taking up a cross, and following Christ (cf. Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23). They declared that devotion to Christ, love for Him, and obedience to His commands are all matters that pertain to discipleship rather than saving faith. Faith, they said, is merely the acceptance of salvation as a free and unconditional gift--and they portrayed discipleship as a second-level commitment. Therefore, according to their view, the gospel presents Jesus as Savior only, not as Lord.

Of course, before you talk to your Jehovah's Witness friend, you may want to make sure they don't know anything about your 'man of God MacArthur'.

You just proved the point that I have been making by starting this thread. Some JWs are so sure that they are in the truth, that they forget that when they are out in Field Service to show compassion and understanding toward their fellow non JW. What's so sad is that most people who are converted to JW didn't attend church regularly, nor went to Sunday school, nor knew the bible very well.

Many JW women love their jewelry. Can a necklace or ring be judged as a graven image as well, especially if that type of jewelry is expensive or a certain sized diamond etc. , and the person wants everyone to see it?

Usually I can see a group or 3-5 congragated on each side of the block...and I go inside...stop drop and roll. If I am inside already, I still stop drop and roll. I pretend no one is home.

Moderator cut: interruption
Is this going to continue to be a "Christian thread" bashing the JW's ? I sure hope not.
Can you discuss the difference in doctrines without posting what you may think are the cute little " unchristian" things you do to them when they come to your door..
There are JW's on these forums who deserve the same respect as any one else who posts here..Search the several threads here where there you may find respectful debates between the JW's and the Christians and their doctrines

We need to strive to be walking in love. Love...is the fruit of the Spirit and it is very hard sometimes to let our love draw others into our lives without repelling them. We really need to all seek God on this issue...it is tough..
I have a brother who totally believes something different than I do. I used to fight, argue, push my belief on him as he did with me. We just both have agreed to disagree. I only share or draw a boundary when led by God because if I share from the flesh or myself nothing reaches him..
I believe that with man these things are impossible but with God ALL things are possible. Everyone is on this thread for a reason and a purpose.
