Jesus opposed legalism of the scribes and Pharisees from Luke 11: 37-54 as they missed knowing God and His character , as these people were religious , and their god was their ideas of Gods law which turned out to be just a substitute for the Lord was an idol , because faith was not expressed , and pride which is alien to God was the heart of these lawyers of God law , so Holy Spirit was put out with legalism because faith will be put out so the grace of God will be stalled ........................ See Jesus gave us our ethics through His Words which is a posture for our righteousness , but humilities under the Lord and faith and expectation into the grace of God is the plan of God to bless His children , and give a witness of Christ for to spread the Gospel ,.............................. Where legalism builds a religion which is a idol substitute for God and encourages condemnation which is alien to Holy Spirit
