Sometimes i still get flustered and the fear tries to grab me.
Me too, and I hate that! Sometimes, the things that are said to convince URists that they are wrong and, some would say, hell-bound, can start to suck me right back into that place of fear. It's not that their arguments are convincing or Biblically sound but just that they tug at the old fearful way of thinking that I was a prisoner to most of my life. What do they call it when a prisoner starts to be loyal to it's captor? Stockholm syndrome? That's how it feels sometimes! But thank God that the next part of what you wrote is also true:
Quote:
But i remember the bondage i was in to that fear for so long, and i remember .what the bible says about perfect love casting out fear, and the devil flees from me.
I love that image of the devil fleeing. I hadn't thought of it quite like that before but that's it exactly. The Adversary is there, in the words that proclaim ET, trying to kill and destroy, but the Truth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World, routs him out and continues to breathe LIFE into my spirit!
Quote:
Nevertheless hearing your testimonies does me good, and exhorts me and edifies me in so many ways.
Coming here and reading what others write about the truth of the Father's unfailing, infinite love and goodness, His glorious plan of the restoration of ALL, and the way that He is working this out even now in people's lives is a glorious blessing and I add my thanks to yours.
I felt it appropriate to post my verse of the day for wednesday, here in this thread. To my brothers and sisters who continue to share the wonderful good news of God being all in all:
Isaiah 52:7
7 How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him who brings good news,
who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,
who publishes salvation,
who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Yes i love this verse . I cannot comprehend how threats or warnings of ET can be considered good news.
Even believe in Jesus or you are going to hell can never be considered good news.
To think i used to believe it to be so
Oh well cannot live in the past or i will stumble
What about Paul's statement that he "wished myself accursed for the sake of my Jewish brother and sisters", is he saying he would go to eternal torment for his friends??
Perhaps...
Im not sure of the context of that verse , but clearly he is saying that he would allow himself to be put at risk if only this action would result in more Jews being saved and not lost.
Now the truth is that none of us can truly take the place of anyone burning in hell, so at best this is a hypothetical question to cause thought.
However the willingness to place yourself into harms way and to be willing to risk life and limb for the sake of the lost who are damned, is to be our guide.
Christians are to be the type of person who would (If they could) place themselves into the eternal and everlasting burning flame of hell if it would mean that someone could be saved from it.
This means I am to count the salvation of the other person as being greater than my own salvation...

Would you give up your salvation and burn in hell if it would save your son or daughter from hell?
Lots of christians say that God is more important so no they would not.
or let them burn for their own sins because every man is punished for his own works.
Glad to see this thread alive and kicking again. I read all the responses. It certainly is an important question to answer.
Yes it is. If you are so bound by the fear of hell that you cannot do what God says ("greatest love is to give your life for a friend") then you are letting the fear of something hold you in bondage.
I have no fear of hell. I can say that if there is a hell and someone is going there, I would jump to take their place. No doubt in my mind.
Love covers a multitude of sins.
If what they say is true about hell then Jesus gave his life so you wouldn't go to hell.... He "went to hell" for you and expects you to do the same for others. And where did Jesus end up?
Anyone would say they would do so for their own son or daughter...thats a given.
The harder question comes when you are asked if you would still do so for a total stranger?
Or a foe?
There is where the rubber of the Christian walk meets the road.
The bible says love your enemy as your friend. The bible says to give your life for a friend (or enemy) is the greatest form of love. The bible says the commandments are to love God and love your neighbor (friend, enemy) as yourself.
so I will repeat:
I have no fear of hell. I can say that if there is a hell and someone is going there, I would jump to take their place. No doubt in my mind.
Love covers a multitude of sins.
