This is such a wonderful testimony! She spoke about my very life, except I was 8 years old when I went to the alter, but I was 30 years old when I surrendered my entire life to Jesus! You gotta watch this (believers--it will give you so much joy! unbelievers--please think about what she is saying, it's the truth!).
I have to admit that most of the video dealt with the phrase Jesus Save Me and I got nervous because that is not salvation. But at the end when she said that if you realize you're a sinner and repent and believe that Christ is the only way, I felt a little better. We have to be very careful that these days we are proclaiming the true Gospel that Christ died for our sins. Then we can give people the good news that Christ provided payment for our sins through His death. If we only talk about the love of God then we are going to see a lot of professions. But if we talk about the sin of man and that his sin deserves punishment in Hell, and that Jesus paid the penalty, we will see genuine conversions. Jesus said repent. This means to ask God to forgive you of your sins and by faith receive Christ's death on the cross as payment for your sins.

I actually found the opposite to be true. I heard about sin all my life, and can still remember the guilt I felt. It didn't help me get any closer to God. It was only when I began to understand that God is love, and experienced that in other people that my faith changed. Got stronger. Seemed to put sin in a different light, sort of. Also put Christ and what the cross was all about in a different light also. Love was more effective as regards my ability to have faith.
The Bible says in Galatians that the law is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. Paul himself said in Romans that he did not know he was a sinner except that the law told him he may not covet. The problem is that this whole world focuses on the love of God so much that they are missing the truth about sin. The devil does not care if the love of God is preached. The very people who are depending on the love of God are the same ones who make professions at a big crusade and never truly realize they are a sinner. Instead they think that if they receive Jesus then they can try him out for a while and if they don't like Him then they can give Him back. This is very dangerous theology. The Bible is very clear that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. Yes God is a God of love, but remember His love because it is perfect and just must punish sin. That is why Christ died on the cross. If we just give people the good news without telling them there is bad news, then the good news will seem foolishness to them. But if you tell a person that there is bad news then the good news (the Gospel) will make sense.

I don't think it was until I realized the seriousness and gravity of my sin that I could fully understand the love of God.
In other words, it wasn't until I realized how much MY way and MY actions were opposed to God that I realized how much grace, mercy and forgiveness He had extended to me IN love.
It makes repentance easier, but still not always easy.
If that makes sense....
