that is the one thing the church cannot reconcile to their theology NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY TRY. They can twist scripture till judgement day but ALL the GLORY goes to God and God alone.

All is out of God according to Romans 11:36, so this tells me that even our ability to choose Him is out of Him. It is not of ourselves. It is ultimately the work of God. How many can say that we came to Jesus all on our own? Did God have something to do with this? Didn't something influence our wills to come to Him? Didn't something draw us to the Lord? I believe that it is all the work of God and if we choose Him, we only choose Him because of His influence and power. We are dead and lost in sin until God sheds His light upon us.
I have been severely struggling with pre destination because I just don't see anywhere in the bible where it says, we choose God. Moses didn't choose, the disciples didn't choose, Jonah didn't neither did Paul etc.... When I became a Christian, it hit me like a ton of bricks, it was as if blinders had been taken off and a huge weight lifted off my back so it only made sense to go to the light and stay in the light. Now I admit I made the decision to commit my life to Christ, whatelse could I do? He now had a hold on me but I have never felt that I chose Him. I felt He chose me.
What do you think? and scripture would be nice. Thank you

God knew us before we were even born, so how can we know about God when we didn't even know who He was.
God takes the initial step first by calling us unto Himself and then you have the choice to come to Him if you like. God does choose us and we just respond and come to Him, but many reject His invitation.
The "master" was speaking to the disciples ( whom He chose at the beginning of his ministry.) Just my opinion, but ..I don't know much.
Well, Miss Blue, none of know much.
Jesus was indeed speaking to His disciples (whom He chose at the beginning), but I assure you the principle stands for every disciple: you did not choose Me.
The Lord's chose is "from the foundation of the world" before any of us could breath a breathe.
Note: "Chosen beforehand in accordance with Him whose might..."

He has made known to us the secret of His will. And this is in harmony with God's merciful purpose for the government of the world when the times are ripe for it--the purpose which He has cherished in His own mind of restoring the whole creation to find its one Head in Christ; yes, things in heaven and things on earth, to find their one Head in Him. And you too, who in Him were made heirs, having been chosen beforehand in accordance with the intention of Him whose might carries out in everything the design of His own will.
I beleive god definitelty chose each person but that doesn't mean that the person will listen. The devil is very strong and many don't.Jesus talks about his appearing before people and that he will not appear to many and they are more blessed for their faith without seeing as many did.He often talks about them seeing but still not believing constantly in the bible.
