Correct, there temptation is no different but their choice is and there is no second class citizenship but that which they make up.

bluefly, second-class citizens generally have varying degrees of restrictions on voting rights, limits placed on them regarding civil or military service, ownership of weapons, language, education, freedom of religion, freedom of movement, marriage, housing/property ownership, etc. The list is far more comprehensive than what I can list here but I think you get the picture. While marriage is not yet an option for gays in most states, they still have rights that folks in other countries only wish they could attain. Gays can also consumate a civil union and can raise children through adoption. One omission does not a second class citizen make.
