Maybe. I don't know whether the Chinese had an end-of-days story.

I heard a cool end-of-days story. In Greenland, which is extremely cold, and in which the nomadic peoples tended to live outdoors, they envisioned the end times as being marked by a world that fell to complete ice, without a trace of life remaining, as a giant wolf emerged from the great beyond and swallowed the sun whole.

It gives me the chills! You can see though how their end-of-days story was quite tailored to their experience of the world -- their world is one of ice.
