Hi Shana, I did not say wearing jeans is evil. I said putting Jesus in jeans is blasphemy. He cannot be brought down to our level, He is Holy and pure and putting Him in jeans is degrading to our Lord.
Amen! As I don't believe it is wrong to wear jeans, but like you said ILNC, it is degrading....He is God, King of kings, Prince of peace, Wonderful Counselor and shows such disrespect to our God.....!!
I wouldn't answer the question to the one individual who is provoking, hounding, questioning your convictions..... it is a snare of manipulations to promote their agenda and they truly do know where you stand!!! As you have witness to them over and over!!!

I knew you would understand what I'm talking about and why.
Jesus wore the same clothing as the ordinary people when He walked the earth.. He was pure, He was better than anyone,He was king, He was God, yet He did not set Himself apart to be recognized and granted special favors by wearing the purple robes and jewels of royalty..If he were to appear today (instead of 2000 years ago) I believe He would appear as a common man, dressed in the common way of today...maybe he would even drive a beat up Pinto ...The point is... He would blend just as He did 2000 years..and we would be drawn to Him just as they were then, because of the very same things that people were drawn then..not by his outward appearance, but by the purest, most abiding most encompassing love that can only come from God....

Very true - except for the Pinto. I don't think any more exist (I see him in a '92 Civic) But this casual way of dressing would make sense - except that he looks like a white man. Hasn't it been established that he was darker complected and didn't have "European" hair?

what's wrong with depicting him wearing what he wore when he walked the earth?

An excellent way to put it, Miss Blue! Many people, who are so outraged over Jesus in jeans, are the same ones who would be horrified if he showed up in their churches, in person, wearing the familiar robe, and sandals, (and the long hair, although we don't even really know how long it was. Scripture doesn't tell us). At the very least, he would get some looks, and whispers, from the people who didn't approve of what he was wearing. Folks don't like to be shaken up, (we are such creatures of habit). They like their little world to stay exactly the same, no rocking the boat, please. Such a pebble in the road to be tripping over... Good heavens, as if Jesus didn't have better things to worry about than whether a well-meaning artist placed him jeans!

Absolutely,
Seems for some reason, folks are missing the forest for the trees...
(or the SAVIOUR for the pair of jeans!)
Nothing at all, but I doubt he would dress that way if he showed up on earth today.
So why not show him the way he was last time he walked on earth? By your logic we could give him a rainbow-colored afro, a big red nose and floppy shoes....because after all....dress is irrelevant--and he might be going to a clown convention!
