All you need to know to diagnose the state of the Catholic Church in America today is that Pope Benedict XVI -- who has a knack for ticking off Muslims and Jews -- spent the past week wandering the Middle East, yet Catholics here barely noticed. They were too busy fighting over Barack Obama's appearance as commencement speaker at Notre Dame or arguing about the fate of a popular Miami priest known as "Father Oprah," who was caught on camera sharing a seaside embrace with his girlfriend.

I'm not certain but I grew up a protestant and support Pro Life and tend to believe in the Catholic Church as the true church. Protestant churches are all about being politically correct and not about the teaching of the savior Jesus Christ. Many Protestants are Christians in name only.

I've known a lot of catholics that are Christian in name-only.

It's not about denomination.

I'm sure you're right. I am just stating what I see while attending a protestant church.

I agree. I was merely countering the argument that seemed to be saying that the catholics were the "real christians" because of the name-only Christians in non-cathollic churches.

A lot of Catholics like Pelosi tend to do us a disservice by misrepresenting us.

He said the catholic "church" is the real one.

He should have known better, right?
