Default Where is Hell?

Is Hell an actual place, something supra-natural? If someone goes to Hell, where would that be?

Unhappy Where is hell...?

...wherever the love of God...the Light of His Word...and the power of His Holy Spirit isn't...this would be the "place" of pure hell....I've been there......it's dark....and empty...and lonely.

As a Christian I believe in the revelation God made in Greek and Hebrew. Someone who denies the validity of that is not very well taught about the basics of the Christian faith. It doesn't take a master of other languages to use a concordance. Language helps are abundant and free on the internet. Try www.bluletterbible.org for a start if you don't know where to look.

Which word that the English "hell" is pasted over are you interested in what it means? There are a couple in Hebrew, one of which is "sheol." In Greek there is "hades" (trans., "imperceptible,") "tartarus" (only once) and, (8 times, discounting repeats between gospels) the only one Jesus talked about, "geehena" (trans., "Valley of Hinnom.") Apostle Paul, who wrote what, 70% of the N.T., never wrote about any of them. Wow, is he lax! Then (5 times in The Book of Revelation, the most symbolic book in the Bible) there is the lake of fire which is never called hell by the translators. Never is it written that hades is geehena, or that gehenna is tartarus, or that the lake of fire equals any of the others. There must be a reason God chose these words that are all spelled different from one another without ever making a statement that they were somehow equivalent. Do you suppose God was wrong and cartoon Christianity is right?

Default I agree Miss Blue...

Is hell a "place"?
It could be called that.

There is some truth to the idea that hell is a 'very real place'
But it is also correct to understand Hell as being a type of never-ending relationship with God.

A "state of being" would be another good way to look at the people in Hell forever.

The ever-burning sense of loss that a person has at being without God's love in their own hearts, all due to only their own personal stupidity

"Nay but, O man, WHO ARE YOU that replies against God? Shall the thing formed [that’s us] say to Him that formed it, [that’s GOD] Why have You made me thus? Has not the Potter [GOD] power over the clay [man], of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?" (Rom. 9:20-21).

Who made them stupid?

Luke:23
34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they
do.And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Did he say they were stupid or were they ignorant?

Proverbs 16:4
The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Jer 10:23
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

We just don`t want to believe God is in control do we? We just have to believe that we are smarter and wiser than most people, don`t we? Pride comes before the fall!

Apparently, it's in Michigan, I'm sure to no surprise to your average Michigan resident.

The Anchorite is on a distinguished road
Someone said above, "it's wherever the love of God isn't" and this is so very true. Hell is simply the absence of Love, a cold closed heart. Since we are swimming in the light of God's love there can be no real separation, only the veil of our ignorance makes us long for something in plain site. If we can acknowledge our true love standing before us we have vanquished hell into obscurity.

Hell is a place as well as a condition of the soul. When we are not inharmony with God, we are in hell. The less harmony, the darker the hell until we get back into harmony. This can be done on earth as well as in the spirit world.
