I am confident that Jesus would not want His example and sacrifice . . . endured to correct the primitive views of God that our ancestors promulgated . . . to continue to be ignored by blind adherence to those primitive concepts. No hiding of light under a barrel here, Alpha. God is unconditional love and acceptance and Jesus is our "Get out of Jail Free" card. All we need to do is love God and each other!

For our example on how to deal with false teachers we should look to Jesus. Let's see, what did Jesus say...

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who would enter to go in."

"You blind men..."

"...straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!"

"...full of extortion and rapacity."

"...you appear righteous to men but within you are full of hypocrisy
and iniquity."

"You serpents, you brood of vipers..."

"Blind guides..."

"...how are you to escape being sentenced to hell."

Now, there was a Man with the right attitude! Do you think that Jesus did not have the fruit of the Spirit

Of course it is sincere thinking going on. --But did you glean what the point of the post was?

-It was NOT to show how vastly different your points of view are.

-It was NOT to show via some 'posting reinactment' the debate/disagreements that we all read on here every single day.

It was to show THIS:

"The only unchangeable standard we can have in common for our beliefs and ideas..." (yes? what?) "Christ's message."

Or did people just get caught up in the debate reflected back to them, thereby missing the real content? Isn't that what happens here? We tend to only "see" and to "hear" what it is we most want to pay attention to.

-And somehow the one thing you all genuinelly feel that you do have in common gets lost.

My point was to show what you all as Christians feel you have in common.

Christ's message.

Was that such a bad thing to do?

Do I detect a weakening of Calvinist determinism in your "maybe even," Fundy?

He endured His sacrifice to correct primitive views?

Now that's a new one to me.
