For example - do you keep the Sabbath day holy - if not then you do not love God. I also suspect that you will have a very good excuse (in your mind) why you do not obey - but it does not change the fact that literally speaking you do not keep the ten commandments... right?

I'm not sure what you are trying to get at here... no one has ever kept all ten commandments. I never said I keep all ten commandments perfectly. Do you? I am still learning the fullness of God's love.

The point is Christ came to fulfill the law. He fulfilled it with His love.

We are all still learning how to love, and one day (most likely when we are resurrected incorruptible) we will have full understanding of God's love. At that point we will keep all the commandments naturally, because they are all born out of love.

Just because we screw up and don't keep all the commandments perfectly, doesn't mean we don't love the Lord at all, it just means we don't have the fullness of God's love yet. Sorry if I'm not explaining this well. But really, if we say we love God, why do we still lie? Covet? Hate? At the moment we break those commands, we are not loving God as we should.

Side note: Your example of keeping the sabbath is an interesting one, as I believe most people miss the spiritual meaning of this commandment. To keep the sabbath means to rest in God's grace. We shouldn't be trying to "work" our way to heaven - we would not be keeping the sabbath. But this is another debate and off topic.

Well said.
James 2:15-18 sums it up for me:

15 If a brother or sister should be belonging to the naked, and lacking nourishment for the day,
16 yet someone from among you may be saying to them, "Go away in peace, be warmed and satisfied," yet you may not be giving them the requisites for the body, what is the benefit?
17 Thus, also, is faith, if it should not have works: it is dead by itself.
18 But someone will be declaring, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from the works and I shall be showing you my faith by my works. (CLNT)

I feel that a true, vibrant faith does the works that the Father himself would also do. The Fruits of the Spirit with feet so to speak.

Legoman - first you say we can

All of the ten commandments can be fulfilled if we have love. .
Then you say we can not!

Do you see a contradiction here?

To keep the Sabbath means to keep the Sabbath - Do you think Jesus kept the Sabbath or did he "rest in Gods grace."?

Everybody loves the ten commandments until someone reminds them that the Bible says "Keep the commandments".

What contradiction? I did not say what you are suggesting here. Reread the parts you quoted.

Do you know God's love fully yet? I do not. Therefore I do not keep the commandments perfectly. One day I hope to know God's love perfectly, and then I will also keep all His commandments perfectly. No contradiction.

Regarding the sabbath, believe what you want, I'm not interested in debating the spiritual meaning of it. You can research it yourself if you want I'm sure. But from what I have studied, I believe it is talking about more than just keeping a Sunday (or Saturday) sabbath.

Not sure the point of your posts, seems you are looking for an argument.

Peace.
