one thing i've never been able to figure out about the faith of christianity....so help me understand.

why is it that you 'need' someone else (ie. christ) to pay for YOUR sins?
I say, if you're a sinner and choose to sin, they YOU pay for your own sins!
sound fair?
Why is it that you feel the need for someone else to take the blame for what YOU do wrong?

ps. Correction on the title of the post. the second "christ" should be "Cross". Sorry. Can someone please fix that for me? it won't let me.

the payment of sin is?....

Death!

when you believe in Jesus what happens is that his death is counted in the place of your own...
He dies, you get off scott free.

In a very real way this actually happened, remember Jesus took the place of a man who was sentenced to die.
The other man was set free, and jesus die in his place.

in that same type of way, the death of Jesus is in your place, and the sinless life if Jesus is given to you as your own...

Eik, I think Beloved meant that is a slightly different context.

Now you are correct, it should be very important to you to understand the real need all people have to understand their sin problem.

Sin kills.
Thats about it.
Even the smallest sin can kill and send a person to a forever in Hell.
That is the part of the salvation story we humans bring to the table...we bring our sins.

What God does is give us a path that gets us out of the natural result of our sins...(that is our death)

Jesus died for us.
When you believe, the death of Christ is able to cover your sins so that when God looks at your life he sees only the all your sins are already paid for.

Thus you will enjoy the sinless life of Christ because his life is credited to you as your own..

That is why you will not be judged and found guilty of any sins if you believe in Jesus...

no no your title is fine it conveys what you are thinking why doesnt each person pay for his own folly. let the fools die. the reason we think like that is bek we are bunch of loveless selfish people.
if everybody else perishes-- its their tough luck. ----its why the world hates us and we hate each other.
its the marie antoinette thing

Christ dying on the Cross gave humankind the POSSIBILITY of eternal life with God.
Before Jesus, there wasn't any possibility for any one.
After baptism, where Christians are washed free from sin, we regrettably sin again.
Hey, even when we are doing nothing, we sin. Good example is our
tax dollars paying for sinful activities around the world.
We, then, are given the opportunity to repent those sins if we choose.
We are held accountable for unrepented sins, YET WE ARE FORGIVEN again
and again and again for the ones repented!
We also after repentance to make as much effort as possible,
with the help of the Holy Spirit, to never sin again.
We fail, of course, even though we really, really try
very hard not to sin.
The end of our natural life comes to an end...the cycle of sinning and
forgiveness is also ending...Jesus steps in and has the final say
and to a repentant sinner, he has promised that we will be
graced with eternal life with God.
Without Jesus, the end would look very, very bleak. We know
how sinful we are, yet we also know that Jesus' promise is
forever and that makes our lives here on this earth more blissful
and positive and more hopeful.

Now, tons and tons of people are forgetting about this repentance
part. They are waiting until the end of their
natural life to "invoke" the cross ticket for salvation. Not good.
Big mistake.
In fact, it is pretty darn rude to think that because Jesus was
crucified, you are just all of a sudden awarded this ticket without
any effort. Fortunately, Jesus is so loving, he probably overlooks
laziness of unrepentance. But how do we know for sure.
But why and how can anyone expect this?
What kind of person does this? Can you just
imagine facing Jesus at the end of your life and realizing
how awful you've been? When in front of the purest, unimaginable love
this self-realization of how utterly horrible you are....this would
crush you into absolute nothingness. Total exposure! Not one
atom or your being can hide the ugliness!
Yes, you should think about that eventual face to face encounter.
Yes, you should repent and then try as hard as possible to not sin.
You will have help in this, but it is YOUR CHOICE.
Being a Christian is tons and tons of effort.

I think the greater issue is that you do not have to be convinced by any other human being that your guilty and wicked, you can be assured that life is what it is.

You reap what you sow and if your willing to live with those consequenses so be it.

Christ died for you whether you accept it or not, your acceptance of that does not prevent God from having prepared the way for all the routes you will take in life. Your life is yours and your choices are yours and one day when the truth is known you will willingly see that truth and not object to it because you will see how wonderful God sees you.

It's really that simple.

Why don't you actually reply to the man, rather than simply say he's wrong? If you don't want to answer his question, then don't. But don't say that it's simply "God's business". That's no real answer.
