The Ministry of Jesus Begins... (Messiah, preaching, believe, Bible)

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, He left Judea and returned to Galilee. He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah:

"In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali,
..beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River,
..in Galilee where so many Gentiles live,
the people who sat in darkness
..have seen a great light.
And for those who lived in the land where death casts
......its shadow,
..a light has shined."

From then on Jesus began to preach, "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!"

Matthew 4:12-17.

I believe that Jesus was preaching repentance to the children of the kingdom because their Messiah was present, who had been prophecied, they did not repent and they suffered the consequences of their rejection - national judgement on the Jews in 70AD

It was near and judgement happened to them.

And since the entire Bible is written on many planes of literation, that does apply and take care of the physical Israel. AS does most of what we are taught throughout His Ministry.

Now, how would it apply to Spiritual Israel, which IS the Body of Christ? Doesn't the Word of our King carry the same weight for us, as it did for those at that time?

Yes - I agree with you that the bible is written with both physical and spiritual matters in mind - At the moment, for me, it is important to realise that trouble can happen when you interpret the physical as spiritual and vice versa.

I agree all are called to repentance. Many are called - few are chosen.
