Okay...but who's to say what is His doctrine? Why are there so many different sects, denominations, ect.?

Are we all defending different things? What is doctrinal truth, really ?

I think it's possible to say that there are some core doctrines. The church has held to some basic doctrines for the last 2000 years, such as the nature of Christ, salvation, justification, etc.

I guess that to me it seems that where catholicism was about the people learning from the pope via the priests, there is a similar thread in protestism, Since the protestant revolution there is a reliance on the theologians and a dependancy on following the teachings of luther and calvin and other men who have studied the scriptures for themselves, then other men have taken those studies and formed doctrines based on those studies and made churches that the people come to to learn those interpretations of the bible via the pastor of the church. Protestism is still the same system that does not have as many rituals but it still has the same idea.

I have a feeling He would say "Put away your swords; show the world you are my followers by the love you display for all men - as I love them."
